WHERE DOES RAND PAUL STAND ON YOUR WELL-BEING? New Mail from Kentucky AFL-CIO Answers the Question
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When It Comes to the well-being of our Brothers and Sisters, we do everything in our power to make sure that rules are in place to keep workers safe. For decades, unions have has fought at the Federal, State and local level to ensure that when you go to work, safety regulations are followed. But too often, corporations treat workers like faceless commodities, only concerned about how our health and safety will affect their bottom line.
This was made painfully evident back in April when, after being cited hundreds of times for safety violations, both the Dotiki (here in Kentucky ) and the Upper Big Branch (in West Virginia ) mines suffered collapses killing many miners. To call these disasters mere accidents betrays the trust of the working men and women of our community. It also displays a severe lack of understand of the realities the working class must face each day.
And yet, 'accidents' is exactly what Rand Paul called these tragedies.
Here is the fact of the matter: if Rand Paul had his way, corporations would NOT have to abide by ANY Federal workplace safety regulations, even at dangerous job sites like coal mines. This FACT is the view of a reckless and radical libertarian. This FACT is the view of a man who does not understand Kentucky 's working class. This FACT is the view of a man the working men and women of Kentucky cannot afford to have represent them in Washington , D.C.
To help inform the brothers and sisters of Kentucky , the AFL-CIO is sending out the below mailing to all its members. We encourage you to click on the image, read it, and communicate the facts within to your family, brothers and sisters, and all your friends.
Much is at stake in this upcoming election. And if Rand Paul's plans to privatize social security, end farm subsidies and take away unemployment benefits aren't enough to motivate you to vote for Jack Conway, his plan to treat your life like a spilled glass of milk - like an accident that can just be wiped up - should be.
In Solidarity,
Kentucky AFL-CIO

Marcus it is easy to see it is his true beliefs, though I don't think he said that exactly.
He has made quite clear that the Government should have no say so on business practices, PERIOD. He feels this is a violation of the contitution. So, if he believes the Government has no say so in what a business does, and he has made no exemption for the safety of a companies workers. Then he is basicly saying what they claim he says. No politician on earth will openly say "workers should be put in unsafe conditions". But, if you say the government/ OSHA should have no power over a business, isn't that what you are saying?
I think Mr. Paul has alot of beliefs that go beyond what almost all conservatives believe. And he also seems to be an eletist that feels he has to follow no rules. As he has shown us in his business practices.

All politicians will stand on your well-being...but I think analspasm has it right. People on both sides will put their own spin on everything someone believes in. He has a large lead, and every tactic will be used to get Conway more votes...but it won't matter one bit. The dems are gonna suffer come November.

Marcus, It is what everyone was jumping on him about the civil rights issue.
He said quote: "I don't like the idea of telling private business owners what to do."
Now if he doesn't like telling business owners what to do, then is he going to tell them they have to work their people safely?
He has laready proved to not be the "outsider" he had promised. When the Rep. party offered up the money, though the said he wouldn't take it, he did. I don't blame him for taking it but why claim you wouldn't?
He now makes the claim he can present a plan to balance the budget AND keep all the Bush tax cuts. THAT is mathematicly impossible and when he is asked about the plan he says he won't be able to reveal it til after Nov. 2nd.
