When out on medical the word is you get 90 days untill you loose your job/team.Is this truth or myth? I've looked through both local and international contract books and can't find this any where.

IIRC that used to be the case. But I believe that was removed from the current contract. Some people don't know this though, and thats why you see people coming back after two and a half months for 1 or 2 days then going back out for another two and a half months. And a lot of those are just abusing the system.

You have to be off roles for more than 90 days before they take you off the team and off the department rolls. Past practice is the team has the choice or not to bid your job out or not. Most teams do not bid your job on the team out knowing that you are coming back but there is no contract language stating that the team has to hold your job. There are different issues that could fall around this. You go out and they know that you will not be gone long and they just have others covering the job. You have those that go out, come back for a few days then back out again. At this point, the team has the right to either bid your job or not. You may have someone that is on restrictions but working in another department and at that point, the team still has the right to either bid the job or not.
You have to remember that each issue in regards to your question will be done differently with each team in the plant.

I dont want to sound like I'm correcting Brent because his answer is spot on for the most part. And he just miss typed what he meant. You don't have to be off roles for 90 days. You fall off rolls after being out 90 consecutive days. And once you fall off rolls and are out of the system it leaves an opening where you left.
Just wanted to clarify.
