Local 862 – Louisville Assembly Plant – reported by Steven Stone,

4 Door Ford Explorer, Sport Trac and Mercury Mountaineer; Production 10.0 hrs on
5 day work schedule on 1 shift and 2 shifts for Skilled Trades. Running 57
JPH.
Plant Population – Hourly 1068, 106 on ILO
Grievances: 2nd Stg – 18, 3rd Stg – 1, Health & Safety – 1, Work
Standards – 0, Umpire Level -1
Tentative End of Build Dates: The Mountaineer balancing out September
28th, SportTrac October 29th and the Explorer December 16th.
Since 2009, we have sent 425 production employees to KTP, 129 to CAP and
sending 28 to Chicago Stamping Plant November 1st and 8th. Also, 556 at
KTP have recall rights to LAP.
The membership is waiting for the company to officially announce our new
products.
The Local Bargaining Committee gave a presentation to the LCIF for a
business case to hire additional Skilled Trades before July 2011. We need
to bring in Skilled Trades for the 2nd shift ASAP. We have 10 Skilled
Trades reduced to production. Tear Out and Retooling Bid Meetings have
started.
Local 862 – Kentucky Truck Plant – reported by Scott Eskridge, Chairperson
Ford F-Series Super Duty Trucks, Ford Expedition (all versions) and Lincoln
Navigator (all versions); Final Area: 2 shifts on traditional schedule, Body &

August Launch of 2011 Expedition/Navigator going well
Recently had a ‘Coaching’ visit by the National Ford Department on
Continuous Improvement
Local 879 – Twin Cities – reported by Jim Eagle, Chairperson
Ford Ranger; Production - 40 hour weekly work schedule with 1 Crew (4X10 AWS)
running 49.9 JPH
Plant Population – Production 750
Scheduled to close December 2011. Ford met with State of Minnesota
Legislation on August 25th. No change in Ford’s plan to keep the Twin
Cities Plant open.
Although it appears Ford hasn’t changed its mind about keeping the plant
open, the union developed a strategic business concept and presented it to
Ford Motor Company while in Washington, D.C.
30 production members transferred to Chicago Assembly/Stamping August 16th
and 23rd.
Looking at changing the work pattern for Skilled Trades to 4-12 hour
shifts. Still in discussion stage; could possibly realize a - million
dollar savings for the plant.
Local 900 - Wayne Assembly Plant – reported by Bill Johnson, Building
Chairperson
Ford Focus; Production – 40 hour work schedule with 2 shifts (5 day
traditional) & 3 shifts of Skilled Trades
Plant Population – Production 1568, Skilled Grades 243 and 8 apprentices
Currently on a 9-hour schedule, but only working 8 to 8.5 hour shifts.
MAP is behind schedule and 4 down weeks previously scheduled in November
are now canceled.
“Job 1” is scheduled to start up about January 3, 2011.
Have a tentative Local Agreement, but are waiting to finalize until ISA
gets theirs.

Plant Population – Production 840, Skilled Trades 351 with 3 Apprentices
The launch of the 2012 C346 is going well and Job 1 is January 3, 2011.
Overtime is at a minimum.
Technical Training has started for the electricians on the new equipment.
The Committee is in the process of negotiating a new Local Contract.
Local 2000 – Ohio Assembly Plant – reported by Nick Gallogly, Chairperson
Ford Econoline Van; Production – 40 hour work schedule with 2 Crews (4X10 AWS)
and Skilled Trades on 3 shifts;
JPH – 33.5
Plant Population – Production-1416, Skilled Trades 266, {2 toolmakers being
crossed trained as powerhouse engineers}. Members on loan to other
locations: 126 to Sandusky and 11 to Dearborn Truck.
The Skilled Trades are not being covered properly when they take days
off.
The Retirees are still ticked off about insurance changes. Ohio is the
only state that wasn’t given a choice in an HMO provider besides Kaiser
and they feel they are the only UAW Retirees that lost with VEBA.
Started the 4-month period on August 16, 2010 and already have 28 jobs
under the Kansas City procedure.
Local 3000 – Auto Alliance International (Woodhaven) – reported by Garry
Sommerville, Chairperson
Ford Mustang and the Mazda 6; Production – 40 hour weekly work schedule with
1-8 hr shift Monday-Friday and Skilled Trades is working 3-8 hr shifts
Monday-Friday. Running 68 jobs per hour.
Plant Population – Production 1406, Skilled Trades 194
Grievances: 2nd Stg – 219, 3rd Stg – 37, Health & Safety – 2,
Work Standards – 1, KC’s - 15
Sales for the Mustang have increased slightly. Are in the early stages
of launching the return of the Boss 302.
On July 12 went to 68 JPH and reduced the second shift of production.
Production membership went from 2049 to 1406 and our Skilled Trades went
from 261 to 194.
On September 7th - went from a 4/10 schedule back to a 5/8 schedule. Notified
the company of desire to return to the 4/10 in November and December when
the projected volumes make a better business case and can accommodate deer
season.
On August 2nd - finalized a Tag Relief Letter of Understanding that
secured 36 additional team leaders and were able to avoid tag relief in
Body and Stamping. Started the process on September 20th with much of the
membership opposing it.
Frank Keatts: gave an update on the open ‘Equality of Sacrifice’ grievance.
The Union has been gathering information on the Company's wages and bonuses and
Ford Motor Company has been slow to furnish it, especially on the Executive's
compensation. All UAW units have asked to hear the grievance in Third Stage and
Appeal to the Umpire. LAP appealed theirs on 10/15/2010. We will notify the
members as soon as its status is updated.
JSP Report: On the effective date of the 2007 Agreement 11/18/07, UAW/Ford had
51,453 MEMBERS including ACH, Temps & the Salaried Units. Since then our
membership has DECLINED 21%. The current population is 40643 and that is a loss
of 10,810 members. As of 9/12/10, 234 members were on Indefinite Layoff, (ILO)
and 121 have exhausted all of their SUB/TAP benefits.
Ford Council Meeting: John Fleming, Ford Motor Company's Executive VP of Global
Manufacturing & Labor Affairs, gave an overview of the Company's financial
status and Executive VP of NA Manufacturing, Jim Tetreault gave an update on
product commitment, in which the company has lived up to 27 of 29 commitments.
While reviewing each plant, he mentioned that Kansas City will be getting a new
product and spoke about the Louisville Assembly Plant's product line and next
generation body shop, which will be able to run multiple products at once.
After the meeting, President Rocky Comito and I spoke with Jim and Marty Mulloy,
VP of Labor Affairs, about LAP and both were very excited about our future
growth.
Floyd Ford, UAW Health & Safety Department: Floyd gave a very in depth report
that started with a review of the status of the 2007 contract commitments. There
were 16 main commitments from the negotiations, 11 of which have been completed.
Five remain open, but all of them are under development and should have no
trouble being completed.
