Dear Brothers and Sisters,
The order bank is as follows: 33,241 units for the Super Duty; 7,368 units for the
Expedition and 1,614 units for the Navigator. In November we are looking at 1,340
units per day off the chassis lines. This is approximately 9.1 to 9.3 hours.
National Proposal forms are now available for the membership. If you have an
idea of a new proposal or a way to improve current language please fill out the form.
These proposals are for the National Master Agreement and cover both production and
skilled trades' language. All forms should be returned to the proposal box located in the
in-plant union office or given to your committee person. The final date for acceptance is
December 6, 2010. Please take time to fill out a form so that your voice can be heard.
Don't forget to turn your clock back one hour this Sunday November 7,
2010. At 2:00 am set your clock to 1:00 am.
On November 10 and 11, 2010, Flu shots will be offered to all KTP employees
who are interested in receiving them on a first come, first serve basis. You must
arrange to take your shot before or after your shift. You must have insurance through
Ford and present your insurance card to receive that shot. Shots are being offered at
Gate 6 room 105 at the following times: 5am-9am; 2pm-6pm and 11pm-3am.
B-12 shots are still available at the Chamberlain Union hall on Wednesdays from
2:15 to 5:45 pm. The cost is $13.
The Region 3 Bowling Tournament will be in Louisville, Kentucky, at the Kingpin
Lanes located at 9525 Taylorsville Road. The dates are February 19-20, 2011, and
February 26-27, 2011. Deadline for entry is December 17, 2010, with forms available at
the Union halls.
The UAW Chaplaincy Committee Dinner is this Saturday, November 6, 2010, 5-
7pm. Tickets are $6. It will be at the LAP union hall located on Fern Valley Road.
I know that there are a lot of rumors concerning the "Equity of Sacrifice"
grievance being resolved. This is not true. The grievance is currently in the hands of
the UAW legal department for review. After review the grievance will be sent to the next
stage to be heard.
There is still RV and boat storage space available at the LAP union hall on Fern
Valley Road. The cost is $65 per month. If you pay for a year in advance the rate is
discounted to $702 per year. If interested contact Scott Edwards at the LAP hall.
There is a posting for Lima Engine plant for non skilled openings. However this
did not get posted at KTP due to the hierarchy of placement in the Master Agreement.
This hierarchy did allow two KTP employees the opportunity to go to Lima because they
had signed up to transfer on a previous posting at KTP and did not get the opportunity
to transfer at that time.
We have also been notified that electronic cigarettes are not allowed to be
smoked inside KTP. There have been no clinical studies presented to the FDA verifying
the safety of the electronic cigarettes. Therefore the health affects on the people who
use these or the people around them who are exposed to the vapor are unknown. At
this time electronic cigarettes will be included along with tobacco as a product that
cannot be utilized within Ford Motor Company facilities in states that have laws
prohibiting smoking in places of employment.
We have had several issues come up regarding FMLA leave. Anytime you are
turned down for FMLA verify that the information you were given is correct, by
discussing it with your committeeperson. We wanted to lay out some general knowledge
of the FMLA law to help everyone understand what is required of them to use FMLA,
these are just guidelines.
Unless it is a medical emergency you must notify the company of the need for FMLA
as soon as practicable, and you must call the absentee hotline. The law generally
requires 30 days after notification before you can use FMLA days for scheduled doctor's
appointments or treatment, but if the treatment or appointment requires leave to begin in
less than 30 days, the employee must provide as much notice as practicable. Make
sure you notify the company as soon as you become aware of a need for FMLA
because the law does allow them to postpone your FMLA a day for every day you knew
you needed FMLA but did not give the company notice.
In a medical emergency you must notify the company in one or two days if possible.
You may be able to take FMLA leave for the following reasons; birth of a child, adoption,
foster care, illness of child, spouse or parent or the employee's own illness. In some
cases an adult child may also be covered. The law has a very broad definition of child
and parent. A parent or child that was legal wards or loco parentis can even qualify.
FMLA also covers various needs for military personnel. You may take leave to care for
a qualifying military member. You may also take leave for post and pre deployment
activities such as arranging childcare or seeking financial or legal arrangements. An
employee can also take up to 5 days to spend with a covered military member whom is
deployed but on short term R@R leave.
