Great question! I think many people would love to hear that answer. Maybe we could include some of those individuals that are in our local that have been on ILO for so long.

The reason that we stopped doing it was because the of the individuals that were taking advantage of the programs throughout Louisville. The parents were running from place to place gathering gifts and that still left many children in Louisville out in the cold.
What a lot of teams are doing and have been doing is going and picking out names off the Angle tree program which is a great program. My wife, kids and I do this as well.
Last year when we did the St. Joe program for children that were less off, and I mean they are in bad shape but you knew that whatever you gave did go to them. These kids have been taken away from their families from either being sexually abused, physically/mentally abused, and really any other bad situation that you could think of. When Scott and the others went to take a tour, the kids all had mask on to protect their identity. You could not take any pictures of the children without them wearing their mask. There were no doors on any of the rooms in the building. For example. No doors for the bathrooms, or the bedrooms and the reason for this is because most of your attacks either happen in the bathroom or in the bedroom.
I would love to have the program back in the plants but I also feel better knowing that what we donate to these kids, is being put to great use because these kids have been threw so much hell that they need that light of hope to let them know that there are people out here that do care for them and life isn't this hellish place that they know it to be.

That's a great idea Brent! My wife and I have sponsored children in the past and feel guilty we haven't done more. I too wish we could have the children back in the plant, it was always a highlight in the year for me.

I'm sure we all know a friend, family member, or neighbor that would love some help this year. Two people on my street (with families) lost their job in this calendar year. I would feel better helping them before I help a stranger. Be generous this Christmas!

One year on Frame line one of the guys on my team lost his brother. So we sponsored his brother's kids. They really needed it and appreciated it too. I also like the idea of the angel tree program.

I have heard some of the kids were related to KTP workers. It is sad that people take advantage of other peoples generosity.

You can justify it however you want, but the program should not have been killed. Every program has flaws. Tighten up controls if there is a problem. Every charity has flaws. Does that give everyone the right to throw the rest of the children to the curb. There are more needy than ever right now. With 3600 people in this plant, that would be a lot of children helped. I know the 3600 are not goiing to chase down another charity on their own outside of work. A lot of people do not have the extra time because of other commitments. Why not take advantage of the 3600 here and help a lot of children?
I think this is very sad - it should be a source of pride.
And it does reflect poorly on KTP as a plant when LAP is doing it right as they get laid off for eight months.

Option 1.)Committeemen stand outside the turnstyles prior to the shift starts, and collect, they give the money to your E.I, rep who passes it on to the charity group. Option 2.)Have an inplant collection, team leaders collect from team members, team leaders give it to committeemen who give it to the E.I. rep who passes it on to the charity group. Those that want to give can, those that don't want to can pass.

Well said Tony. I have been out of the loop due to moving so I will ask if we are planning anything. The St. Joe's plan last year was good since you knew it went to those that truely needed it.

I agree with the last 4 post...so what's the plan! Committee people dress as bell ringers at the gate... or volunteers, seems like it works for Juvenile Diabetes collection. We are pretty fortunate here, we should try to help out when we can.........it's all voluntary Salary can pass the hat??

Take up collections at each gate and let FORD MOTOR COMPANY match the total. Give the money to a local charity.
