COLA , GEN pool , adding meaningful gains to our pension are just a few things members before us worked for and have disappeared. Don't ask about the 2nd tier crap.
Lump sums are nice but long term benefits for everyone should be the focus.

Right everything you’ve mentioned is gone. When we are gone they’ll have a slave/sweat shop going.Sad.Our founding union fathers would be very disappointed..Lump sums are the future.Just wish they would offer a REAL buyout .But it won’t be long and I’ll be out

What's not real about the current buyout offers? Real ?Like I’ve been here 25yrs and you give me 60,000$?/36000 net and 1300/850 til I’m 62 then reduce it to 700?Our retirement is horrible compared to REAL cos.The buyouts I speak of would be 300,000 or more and they can keep their retirement payments. Then I can invest and be happy.1600 a month for 30yrs is RIDICULOUS.

Yes, people definitely need to educate themselves about what our retirement benefits actually are. Planning is a big part of any successful retirement. Hopefully people are getting the information well ahead of their scheduled retirement.
