I hope you retirees appreciate all we've given up over the years in pay raises to pay for your ins. etc. I'm sure the $15.00 a hr wonders will be more than happy to do the same for us!! LOL

I belive it is a lump sum cola bonus, not a xmas bonus. It just comes at xmas. Not all are ungrateful jerks and we do appreciate what was earned for us. Thanks for your time. My Dad retired after working for 38 years. Good luck and Merry Christmas.

If it were not for the retirees we wold not have half the benefits we have now!! My dad was on strike till after Thanksgiving '69, in '76 and several other times before that..how many strikes have you been on?? All that was to get us where we are now..how many of you would strike like that for your union? We had $35 a week for our family of 5...even back then that barely bought groceries and gas so please don't tell me how much active people have given up!! Retirees are the backbone of the UAW!!!

im not meaning to sound ungrateful, because i am grateful for people who sweated and put in hard work, and im grateful for the job i have, but when you see people getting lump sum payments,or bonuses or whatever especially at christmas and us that are still out here sweating aint getting nothing to help pay for our christmas well its kind of a bitter pill especially when you see ford reporting record profits so chill a little

I would love to have my bonus back especially since Ford is doing to well..it is only fair, but don't begrudge the retirees.

Thank you Retiree's for your service, I'm forever grateful; and I'd better be if I want Christmas dinner and presents at Dad's. Seriously, the Retiree's health care prescription costs continue to rise; I know $700 isn't much but I hope it helps!

I guess I should have tried to make my point without the sarcasm. Let me try again. First of all The people before us have my thanks for the benefits we have left. However we have had to give up alot over the years to keep our retirees benefits. Given part of our cost of living increases to keep their insurance benefits.(money from COLA given up over a 20+ year work life is a good bit of money) Thats fine but what about when we retire? Will the $15.00 an hr people be so inclined to that care of us? Thats my point! Not trying to disrespect anyone, So chill out Stonecold and enjoy you retirement.

Even with what we have gave the retiree's havent "kept what they have".....they have been cut hard also in their benefits, you should do a little research before making such stupid statements.

Stupid statements? Everyone has lost benefits! The people who come after us working for half the pay won't be so enthusiastic about supporting retirees who made double their income. How is this a stupid statement. Just would like to know other peoples opinion on this subject. This will be our (active employees) future. Just something to think about.

merry christmas retirees us active employees get jack squat It is difficult to know someones intentions when they make a post. To me it seemed the OP was mad about someone else recieving something that they were entitled to. I have no way of knowing the posters true feelings though. In my opinion the retirees deserve everything they can get, they are at the mercy of the company and union and have almost no say as to what happens in thier futures. They have been on our side of the fence, they have experienced all the goods and bads working for Ford has to offer. Yet none of us knows thier side, we are still working, unsure of what retirement will be like in our future. A big Thank You, to Stonecold and all the other retirees before us that worked hard and made sacrifices during thier time here at Ford to allow us to continue to make the great wages and benefits we do.

my intentions was not to disrespect any retirees,i think they deserve a xmas bonus as well as a cola, but didnt the cost of living go up just as much for us active employees......and yea i know the retirees work hard to get alot of the benefits we have...........i also know that we have given up alot of what they worked hard to get and we seem to continue to give up more yet i see record profits posted......if any retirees think i dont appreciate what they did then they misunderstood what i was trying to say

You need to realize that when some of these guys retired several years ago, it was at a much lower payscale than what they get now. This lump sum bonus is needed by them to help out with bills. They haven't gotten raises over the years.

I think everyone needs to realize that ALL hourly (Retired and active alike) are linked arm in arm as they should be. We are ALL UNION MEMBERS! Whether it is on the floor or on this forum, I cannot/will not tolerate infighting. It only adds to Detroit's smile.
As far as the retired - Thank you for your service!
As far as the active hourly - It is time for us to fight our own battles. This will happen next year at contract time. Let us all stand together as one. That is supposed to be the definition of a union.
...and as far as Christmas is concerned - May we all remember what the season is truly about. That is God giving this Earth his only son to help save our souls. Let us use this season to think about helping one another and others less fortunate.

You know I get tired of people downgrading our retires. Yeah we gave up a lot on the last contract. However it was the retires who fought for everything we gave up. Now that Ford is making BIG PROFITS each Quarter, it's time for us to stand up and fight for what we gave up and also take care of our retires. We stood up to Ford when they tried to take away our strike vote. Lets stand together one more time as a Union and show Ford that we can accomplish anything that we set our minds too. To all the people who are crying about that Christmas Bonus maybe you should of invested in Ford Stock. I know I did and believe me It's paid off a whole lot more than that Christmas Bonus they took away.

Read page 663 in Volume 4. It explains the retiree lump sum bonus. It has nothing to do with the active workers period.

I would like to thank the retirees for all the hard work and the sacrifices they and their families have given throughout their time at the hellhole we call KTP. If it wasn't for you; I wouldn't of ever had the chance to provide for my family the way they have been. You kept going through the good and bad times while putting your bodies through pain and hardships most cannot nor will ever understand.
I wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. You are our brothers and sisters in arms though we have never met. We at KTP and LAP owe you a debt we can never repay!
Thank you Saugerman
