"Nobody's buying these truck right now"
"Sales are up 11 percent"
"They are gonna drop the final line speed 5-6 jobs and cut jobs out when the LAP people leave".
"They need every truck they can get"
"We'll have a couple of down weeks".

There will always be a direct correlation between oil price increases and the sales of large vehicles. Oil prices hovering around $90 a barrel with increases forecasted. There is no sense building them if they won't be bought.

If you can afford a $60,000 truck, do you think the price of gas matters?

Yes, everything we purchase is transported by barge, semi, train, etc. The price of ALL goods and services increases. Look on your garbage bills, etc. - Fuel surcharges are becoming normal. Whether you are talking about groceries, clothing, cars, home services, building materials, furniture or otherwise - the cost is passed on to the consumer. In 2007, everyone saw the limit this country can withstand.
As it did the last time gas went through the roof, people and business will cut back. Expendable income disappears and the only corporations that make big money are the oil companies.

If you can afford a $60,000 truck, do you think the price of gas matters? Don't be so short sighted, it's not a single individual we are dependant on. Corporations that might order a fleet of new trucks will cut back, just as Tony stated. Global demand of oil will continue to push the prices up, affecting all of the economy. As Tony advises us, save your money.
