“We can no longer live in a society where the public employees are the haves and taxpayers who foot the bills are the have-nots,” Mr. Walker, a Republican
Translation – reasonable pay and benefits are unacceptable. To keep things “fair”, we need to make public employees “have-nots” just like the rest of taxpayers.

Corporations write legislation (an example is the healthcare bill) for lawmakers that benefits themselves. Of course those companies turn around and support the politicians’ elections. If this is not illegal, it needs to be. Our political system is a dog and pony show to make the masses feel like they live in a society that they have some influence. This nation (the laws that govern us) is controlled by what is termed the “power elite.” Removing Labor Unions influence on our political system will only increase their power, while degrading the middle and lower classes well being. (Essentials of Sociology, 7th Ed. James M Henslin. P.197) “episodes of repression of workers are represented in official history as unusual deviations from a democratic heritage. Of course, such an interpretation ignores the inconvenient fact that America's history of violence against workers is , one of the bloodiest among Western nations.” www.thirdworldtraveler.com/Democracy_America/LegitimatingDevice_TDF.html (this quote is found under p6. Repression As a Political Strategy, second paragraph)

i have never understood the reason for public employees to be unionized. unions were put into place in order for workers to unite against companies. now we have all these unions united against the tax payers. very conflicting. at the same time, i am for everybody making nore money, it benefits us all in most ways.

Unions were not created to be against anyone, especially ourselves (taxpayers). They were created to give the lowerclass reasonable working conditions and fair pay. If anyone is against anyone its the companies against the lowerclass.
