January National Webinar by Region: Wednesday January 12th
4:00 PM EST South and Northeast
5:30 PM EST Midwest and West
Please plan to join us for the January National calls/webinar, as we review the status of campaigns that face us at the State and Local level, as well as the Federal Legislative agenda of the Labor Movement, now that the Republicans have taken control of the House. We have a daunting task ahead of us, and want to be certain everyone has the current information, and access to the information and resources we'll need to engage our members in the important fights ahead.
In addition to reviewing the National and State campaigns, we'll want to start making plans for the upcoming Regional State Fed, CLC, Community Services Conferences (see attached flyer) so that we can make these the most useful opportunities possible for State and Local leaders and staff to share with and learn from each other as well as the national and regional staff.

*********FIRST ACTION planned by House: REPEAL of HEALTH CARE REFORM**************
As you know, the new Republican majority in the US House of Representatives has vowed to make repeal of Health Care Reform their first priority. This will undoubtedly be the start of a series of attacks on Labor and the progressive agenda that we can expect in the weeks and months to come.
The House plans to vote as early as next Wednesday to end the reforms and return to the practice of denying coverage for pre-existing conditions, ending prescription drug coverage for seniors in the "doughnut hole", barring the extension of children under age 26 on their parents' insurance policies and more... in short, a major pay-back to the health insurance industry.
Attached is a simple summary from the Health Care for America Now Coalition. We will have additional material and Talking Points for you later in the week. Please let your Representative know that working families do not want to see Health Care Reform repealed and be return to the tender mercies of an unrestrained health insurance industry.
