I noticed the three new bid jobs were listed on the bid board Wednesday night. However it stated in order to bid on them you must go to labor to do so!

Thanks-I work C Crew and was cancelled Wed night..is there any descpition as to what the job entails or requirements? Makes me wonder if it then will be set up as an "inteview" process so Ford/Union can get in who they want-like certain low senority people??

per bargaining committee, you bid, then it goes thru interview process, the same as the QOS jobs that went up few yrs ago. It's an agreed upon appt. in which you keep current classification but will be doing the job.......sounds like a temporary position

I don't think it's a temp. job. It's some sort of audit job that involves a lot of driving and documenting data. There is an interview process and some mandatory (on your own time) testing/training too.

This is a process that is going to be done at every Ford plant in the system. These are very good jobs and for anybody who high seniority, you should bid on this. The process consist of 25 mile drive and a very detailed inspection of the unit. This will be done down at the mod center.

I wonder if any medically placed people will get these jobs??

No. They are getting rid of the Medicals that have been working down there. They are going back into the plant to find work. This will happen over the next month.

Yea they will take who they want.So they shouldnt ever bother calling it a bid job At LAP are medicals allowed to pick their jobs, too? Just wondering....that whole process still amazes me... Never could understand how the union allowed that came to come to pass.

How did this get started? Especially on bid jobs?

The GFCPA jobs were just created as bids. We have sub system inspectors that have done this job for years. There are 4 on days and 3 on nights. Scott fought with the company to creat more bids for this job because Ford is starting this process at each and every plant. Ford is wanting 10% of total units inspected with a fine tooth and comb. There is language in the national and local contract about medical placements and them it refers you to local for more specifics on the job placement process.

these were bid jobs at LAP ppl with high senority got these jobs not anyone on medical....as for medicals they have to go by senority and start at the bottom to see if a medical replacement can do ur job....this happened to me when someone with more senority with restrictions wanted my job.....went to union told them i wasnt lowest senior person so they went and started at the lowest senior job.....how it is suppose to be done.....as for job bids someone who is on restrictions can bid on the job as long as it meets their restrictions....they even let ppl who were on medical bid but really there is so many open jobs that will be up for bid from inspectors in all locations to quality leaders and utilitys...take your pick if u come back to LAP especially if u dont mind nights!!!

KTPGAL89, I don't have the list in front of me at the moment but I do know that you have to have your license, InPlant license, hearing test all before Feb 7th. If don't have this, then you need to call union office, ask for Tony Johnson to set up to get your license and then call medical at 2228 to set up for your hearing/vision test. There is an interview process where you will talk with our leadership and the company. I will try to get the sheet posted up on this site.

As of right now, they are discussing this issue but it is leaning towards this being on day shift only. As soon as they come up with an agreement, we will get the information out to you guys.

I keep hearing seniority has nothing to do with it, they will interview all and pick the ones they want. Has anyone heard how many put in for it?

Use to be at LAP a medical placement could only be two years your jr. to bump you off your job. In other words they could only have two yrs. less time than you. Maybe someone will look this up for the exact language.

I keep hearing seniority has nothing to do with it, they will interview all and pick the ones they want. Has anyone heard how many put in for it? That is exactly why I didn't waste my time on the whole process..union/company already has an idea who they want in those jobs and that is why the interview process. That way the people who had little time could "qualify" for the job over the senior person. Total politics...they wanted 3 references and for someone like myself who keeps to themselves and don't run with the Ford clique- I knew it was just a waste of time.
