Thus making it the best job out there unless you have a degree. If you do, then use it and leave if it makes you that unhappy. The buyout was also there for the taking, nobody is forcing you to stay.

I remember talking to some guys from Lorain, right after they had moved down in the mid 90's & they said then that KTP sucked. Said the union was weak, could never get a committeman to do anything, "Team concept" sucked, ect ect ect. Everyone I've ever talked to that spent time at KTP that had worked in another plant have all said the same thing, like a broken record.

What you folks seem to forget is this..we voted on a contract a few years back..passed it and then it was re-opened how many times and altered?? So Ford can agree with any/all of our demands (such as they are). we ratify it and then in 6 months Ford re-opens the contract and takes away anything we were promised. Who is going to back us up, the IUAW??? Like they backed us up the last 4 years?? Until the union grows a backbone and says. "THIS is our contact for 5 years...now live with it as is!!". any contract we agree to is not worth the paper and disappearing ink it is written with.

ktpschd, you hit the nail on the head. Unfortunately, we are not on the international's radar. They are more concerned with unionizing southern plants and self-preservation than existing sources of income.(Ford Hourly)

subscribe to shotgun news. they have lots of vendors who sell complete kits,or just parts, to build an ar. bushmaster sells everything too i think. ive had nothing but good luck with their stuff. just stay away from all that "carbon 15" crap bushy bought for some reason and youll be alright.

The whole strike idea is laughable. This union let the company screw us out of a 4% raise in the 4th year of a CON-TRACT back when things were going great. There was no strike then and there will be no strike now. This union was neutered long ago. That is why the old timers in the union are all gone.(just ask them) This union is a mere shadow of what it used to be.

I agree no strike. I could however see us work without a contract for a long time until one is settled on.

I agree no strike. I could however see us work without a contract for a long time until one is settled on. when the new proposal is shown to us and it gets voted down, we continue to work under the exsisting contract . We never work without a contract.

we work under a contract extension if they negotiate one.that is the most likely scenario. caterpillar worked without a contract for a while,so it has been done.

There was no strike then and there will be no strike now. This union was neutered long ago. That is why the old timers in the union are all gone.(just ask them) This union is a mere shadow of what it used to be. The gains Ford and the UAW have made in the auto market for not using Government money, and negotiating, would be lost in the blink of a eye if the UAW chose not to bargain. This would just drive more Americans to buy non-union vehicles. The UAW is a mere shadow of itself because of the loss of membership, we are the minority now among the American workforce. It isn't the 1970's anymore, the old timers retired. The American population has doubled since then also. The economy hasn't recovered, there are still millions of people that would do your job for less.

We will see what is left of this Shadow Union when it is contract time. We need Profit Sharing to return so we can keep up with inflation.
