I have had my fill of the KTP bashing. Do we have a perfect union, no, but I could not ask for a better bargaining committee. First thing I do if I have a problem is try to care of it myself. If I cannot take care of it I get the committeeman involved. Then I elevate it to bargaining committee. The present bargaining committee has always addressed my concerns. No one should tolerate a committeeman who is not doing their job. Instead of getting on this board and bashing the union, call one of the bargaining committee and let them address the problem. They will! From what I have seen from the people from LAP, the reason it is happy land there and no problems with management is because they do everything they are told to do. I have yet to see any of them stand up to management. I believe that is why things are so different at KTP. It is sad to say but here we have a them against us mentality. I would also like to ask the LAP people how they were treated when they came to KTP. I imagine it was a whole lot better than the way the KTP people were when they went to LAP. The stories I heard of the way union brothers treated other union brothers was very disheartening. I am glad to say I saw none of that here. To the LAPers as well as the rest of us, like it or not we are all here. If you see a union problem try to fix it or get it fixed. We are all the union. We need unity. I do not want to give the wrong impression that I have a problem with anyone who has transferred to KTP. Most are a great group of people and I have made several friends.

Hey I have an ideal lets not vote for the current BC's and instead vote them in as committee men again...PROBLEM SOLVED. You are right the BC's are good and i wish they were back on the floor as Committee men.

I hate it when KTP people quote Popeye...
I take it KTP is your Sweet Haven.
That'll be 25 cent posting a silly comment tax!

You're probably right. I should just bite the bullet. It's not like LAP is that great either. Misery loves company and that is why I will always be there...with my good friend Misery.

Here we go! You can tell it's election time again. "I fight my own problems, I fight the work!! Half of you people who say you have big balls work in body and paint. I've been loaned out to both. You ain't fighting shit! No way to fight work there when magazines are on every work station.
I've been reading the posts. I guess you guys are gonna be our saviours. Hallaluya we are so lucky at KTP that we have people with big balls. We should all look at your croutchs when you ask for our votes.

ktp is a shithole. lap is a shithole. they are auto assembly plants. they are all shitholes. all the whining from lap people(although they are good people otherwise) on this board and in the plant is now and has been very old and boring. everyone i knew that went to lap came back saying the move was the worst mistake they made. you always miss your home plant i guess,or people treat the new guy like shit.either way, im just in it for the money. im not looking to an auto plant to make me happy or be a sweet haven. i have a real life where i get my happiness.im lucky that way.

Very very well said ar15a2. sickofit, Don't know if your post was aimed at me. Worked in trim since I have been here. Not bragging about standing up for oneself, just stating the obvious. Everyone should do this although I realize it is not in many peoples character. As for being everyone's savior, that is not my intention. Hope they will offer the early retirement (50 years old and 10years) soon as I would love to take advantage of that. I have a Savior (I hope you do too) and it is no one that works at Ford.

RON ,I dont know how the LAP people treated the ktp (at lap) but most KTP treated the ohio tranfers or should I say FIFO'S like shit and after 13 years i still hear it , so dont even try and say ktp welcome people with open arms. I never heard 1 word about being from ohio from anyone from LAP, mich,or atl .

We could attempt to explain the differences until we are blue in the face...but unless you spent some time at LAP in the last 15 years, you would not understand. They are both shit holes...but one is much shittier than the other. People take it as a slap in the face...the people are not really the problem...it's the policies, or lack of...the way the contract is either ignored at times or altered to meet a certain result. It's the way some of management look at you as 'animal' vs. an actual human being. The relationship between hourly/salary or even people on the floor with their union rep needs some work to say the least. If you are happy with 'life at KTP'...congratulations. For those of us that know better, we are here to help our brothers/sisters experience a better working environment. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride...watch us make life better at KTP by holding people accountable. People coming on here and bitching gets people elected...gets people removed...gets their rep to visit their area...gets the bargaining committee (that you so love) to do as they contract states...puts a dent in the 'good 'ol boy network' and gets new blood in there to show them how the job is supposed to be performed. We went through it at LAP in the early to mid 90s...it took people like Jim Fisher, Barry Ford, Fred Willard, and Herb Hibbs to name a few to change the way 'things were done' since the 70s...things got so much better. It can happen at KTP, but people have to make it happen. I can't tell you how many KTPers I've spoken to that don't agree with your assessment of the bargaining committee...but they gave up. Many hope to get to transfer to LAP to get away from it all. They hear how great Happy Land is compared to KTP...but isn't it sad that Happy Land is still shitty, but light years ahead of KTP in dealing with work environment? I would suggest everyone take care of themselves first and foremost. I have never seen so many scared people willing to bend over and do as they are told...if you do, at least document it all so you can have some fun with it in the end. Life is good...even at KTP.

We are all the same Union! You named four people from LAP Its funny when people say committeemen. I have had several commiteepeople over the years some good some bad. That is why we have elections to weed out the bad ones. I have had no issues from anyone from LAP but don't lump everyone into one category.

Amen brother Scott! I have met some fantastic people at KTP. I've also had some shitty moments there. They're mine to own up too. It's made my life better. You must experience the lows to enjoy the highs. Playing the middle sucks. Like having a morphine drip ALL the time. Fun in the beginning, but detrimental to one's health in the end. I do want to leave and go back home. But I don't want to forget my days at KTP. I lived life long ago with too many regrets.... No more! Thanks for the opportunity KTP brothers and sisters.

I have worked in both plants trim departments(U-trim at KTP). One thing is constant, Trim is Trim, it justs beats you up. One other thing is constant, both have the best work force of any company I have ever worked for. I wish management could convey what we know to be true - it is the work forces at the plants that make the company what it is.
There is a bond that is made in trim out of frustration. Everyone lives it and learns to have one another's back. I hope that by combining the workforces - we unite the local.

I am serious when I say the last two jobs I had at LAP will quite possibly be the best ones I ever get...helping to create Incoming Quality for night shift(office job)...and inspector in the yard...seeing the sun set or rise was priceless...not to mention not even having to be in the plant.
