It would be nice to keep the money and jobs here instead of sending billions of dollars over seas. I would'nt mind seeing us start producing the amounts of oil we used to.

My best friend from HS has been living/working in California for about a decade now with companies that have been trying to make shale=oil recovery profitable.
He told me YEARS ago that if/when they can perfect the methods used to extract the oil, without the MASSIVE polution involved, then the U.S. will be in a position it hasn't been in in decades.
With U.S. consumption basically projected to be flat for some time, its a pretty amazing thing if you think about it.
Of course you add the fact that the largest Mexican oil fields are about done, and the Saudis may have been misrepresenting thier reserves by a huge amount.........At least the trade deficit could narrow......

The problem is not getting the oil, it is in the refineries. There has not been a new one built in a long time, and there are very few of them out there.
