Once a grievance is in arbitration that's it. Union can't settle it neither can company. The arbitrator hears both sides then has to research so that he makes the right ruling. There are no appeals and an arbitrator wants to make a fair ruling so he is likely to be selected in the future. The process takes a while. He will decide either the union or company is completely right, no compromises. That's what the all or nothing means.

The arbitrator is paid 50% by Ford and 50% by the union. The only thing that I was wondering, is the arbitrator a single individual lawyer or a group of lawers? Anyone have any idea? Thanks in advance guys/gals.

This was supposed to happen last week, so why all the secrecy. Why hasn't the media reported on the answer's? I have my opinion as to why they are so quiet, the deal was made a long time ago and it will be used for bargaining purpose's so they will say.

ill say this one more time. if this grievance has already been presented to the arbitrator there is no other settlement than the arbitrator's decision. the union and company cannot say "hey you know what? never mind, we reached a deal."
while this issue seems cut and dry to us the arbitrator doesnt see it that way. he must do research on our contract, the details of our modifications to that contract, previous rulings that may set precedent, etc.
before making all these speculative statements about why we havent heard anything(who would we hear it from?the arbitrator doesnt give updates.). do a little research on how the arbitration process works.
this is my last post on this subject. i think we should win,but if it was that cut and dry,it never would have ended up in arbitration to begin with.

We will not win because the UAW willingly voted to give up the concessions. Remember, we willingly went to the polls and the majority pulled the YES button! How soon we forget. What has happened to us has happened to workers since there has been a union. We were suckered. We were sheeps led to the slaughter house by our leaders. Now we realize what happened we want to turn around but it's too late.
Final answer is the arbitraitor will say start asking for the benifits back in future contracts.
We took decades of steps backwards. Willingly.

I wounder what would happen if we all took a day and went to the IUAW HQs and protested at their doors about their large pay raises in 2009 with our union dues and bigger profit sharing checks from Ford and better medical benefits. They would SHIT!!!

Just as another posted....the scared majority continue to screw the minority. Until the majority stands strong and demands something back, why would the company be willing to give us something back when they know they have enough of the workforce living in fear?

At local 249 union meeting on sunday, the chairman was asked if he had any info on this,he said he didn't know if the arbitrator had accepted it yet,he then said that even if we won, that it would not be retroactive to last march.I personally don't understand why it would not be.The chairman went on to say that the best outcome we should expect was if we got a favorable ruling, then it could help negotiators in national contract negotiations. We were also told after FORD gave salary there raises, they tripled the amount they have to pay for health insurance.

I was told the same thing. Also, with Ford making it very public that they gave us 2 grand extra on our profit sharing...out of the kindness of their hearts of course...... I just don't see an arbitraitor siding with us on this one.
