You were hoping that the MOA would ruin LAP as it has KTP...not gonna happen again. And that's me being a smartass...

Over on Blue Oval someone said our right to strike is not retained in this contract, I could not find it either. Is that gone too? This is the worst contract I have ever seen. They want you to trade a little cash now for major concessions that are hidden in the contract or that we gave up supposedly temporarily, if we agree to this they will never come back. I'm with bulldog, I would not vote yes if the signing bonus was $10,000
Answer-- I don't know where they are getting this. The right to strike language has not been eliminated, it would show up as lines through it. I do not have GM's contract but I believe when they gave up the right to strike over wages they wrote a letter of understanding agreeing to not strike. There is no letter in the contract saying that. So, no our right to strike still exists.

If the IUAW thinks we got a great contract then why don't they come join us and put the "entire" union under it?

Sorry for my lack of knowledge here, but is the day of ratification the day the old contract ran out in September or the day it gets passed (if it passes)? My husband worked until September 23 and was then ILO'd from Romeo. He signed up a while back to go to LAP, but we are just waiting for his start date now.

Why are we voting INSIDE the plant on COMPANY property? And I dont believe its just to get more people to vote because we NEVER did this before.

Because it's a conspiracy...they will do whatever it takes to make sure KTP votes in favor. Is that what many are thinking?

Answer----Jc I had to dig to find the correct info on this. in 2007 a IUAW rep made $97,500. In 2010 they started a graded pay scale. So an international rep. now starts at $73,000 and it goes up each year for 6 years to top at $105,000.
So its both yes and no depending on how many years they have been IUAW. I would guess roughly half of the IUAW have more than 6 yrs. So, it depends on how many years they have if they took a pay cut or got a raise. They also lost what was termed as their "double pension" It wasn't truely a double pension but it was a better pension than we get since they had a Ford pension plus a IUAW supplement. But, that is gone now.
This information is in the UAW constitutions. I looked in the 2007 and 2010. art.11 sec 8

Joe, we are voting in the plant to get more people to vote. In the past we voted on National contracts at freedom hall or the louisville convention center and we have a few hundred people show up at best. What conspiracy could their be on voting in plant instead of out of it? Just wondering? You will still be voting in secret and inside the FCPA room where no managers can see you. Just not seeing the conspiracy here. maybe I am missing it. I guess some people woudl say the hall, but if you remember national contracts where always done at other locations so this is an improvement over those locations.

Word...the way this plant operates day to day compared to others has nothing to do with my seniority or job classification. Don't really see the argument...I've been used to ppl being jealous of my job at FoMoCo for nearly ten years now. I don't create the jobs I've bid on...and I definitely didn't put a gun to the nearly 500 ppl at KTP that have seniority on me that could have kept me from getting the 3 bid jobs I've obtained since arriving at KTP...don't hate the player...hate the game. :-)

So if you are a international rep you get a 5300 dollar raise per year for 6 years. Not to bad but it should stay at 73000 until we the workers start getting ours back like promised!

I agree, if anything this benefits the "no" voters in my opinion....most I have spoken to at KTP are pissed, and pissed people vote and if they can walk up the line and vote in 5 minutes that makes it that much easier to do so....I think this contract gets blasted at KTP...company wide, not so much.

They are voting in the plants because the UAW needs all the votes they can get, only people who really care show up to vote at the union hall and thats the people on here.So they think if more stupid people vote the UAW has a better chance.

The nickel fund is supposed to be used for joint programs such as training but it also is used to buy the things like the jackets that were bought this year, and in years past.
Web I will have to get you an answer on the 55, 10 I owe some folks some answers still.
