I heard some new hires were supposed to start tonite (Thurs). I also heard some did not even show up. One new hire lasted 1 hour and hit the door and did not come back. I guess the company will have to learn the hard way about low wage workers. ;D ;D

Do you read about the guy who hired back in at his old job & they had had raised their pay $10 an hour in 10 years, we on the other hand in 8 have lost pay. Why would someone want to do what we do for$13/hr when they can get 20 plus somewhere else.

..it's like I once told an old boss when he fired me ....."Well it's not like I'm losing a good paying job."

The Guy who walked out after one hour....officially the smartest person to ever walk through KTP's doors.
I salute you and your good sense, sir!

I guess the company will have to learn the hard way about low wage workers. ;D ;D They certainly will. There's no way 2-tier pay system will ever do anything in the long run. It's simply to shave that overall dollar per hour rate that the news throws around. Sustaining that group will require a revolving door. People simply will not make a career out of doing this kind of work for half what we make. There's just no way. And I do not blame them.

Ya'll are doing a great job making the companies point about why they need to achieve a one tier pay scale in the future. I think it will be awesome when we're all making $22.50 an hour. It will keep new hires on the job, while the rest of us have been there too damn long to find something better...

i disagree, I think it shows that we deserve the pay we are getting and that even with unemployment at (9%-10%) its not worth it to people to work the line at $16hr or what ever it is.This revolving door will drop the quality and cost the co. more money. This could work to our advantage in long run. hopefully..

We better keep more than 50% of workers at higher pay scale and have everyone show up to vote when the time comes because you know the tier 2 employees will have a 100% turnout if it means more money in their pockets.

Don't worry...come 2015 when they throw this bs at us they will threaten the membership just like this year and nobody will be ready financially wise to strike and will vote yes again because they live penny to penny! 2015 is coming and they will try to screw us...again. Start preparing for it now.

Why do you think they took so many applications? They're going to need them.

I bet at the next contract those 2 tier people will be very close to being in the reqular pay scale or the union will make sure they are. However, I think FORD will still try to keep a pay freeze on us. They will just bribe us with a nice signing bonus. As I mentioned before in a previous post awhile back, you new-hires just need to hang in there and the golden egg will turn more gold.

No one quit. These ppl are former TPT's I saw their drot, and they have all been getting paid. Now when BRAND new employees start, I look for some of them to get a culture shock and quit.

I don't think Ford realizes that there will be a revolving door of new hires coming and going, but what is worse with this two tier pay system is the quality of the product will suffer too. And guess who'll be blamed for that???

I just have to wonder what makes us think we are so much better than these new hires? Seems maybe we have been out of the real world too long. Spoiled rotten UAW employees I like to say... Yea, there may be one or two who can't hang, but for the most part, these people will be doubling or tripling their current wage. Hell, some are even currently unemployed.
All I'm saying is that these new hires won't give a shit what we make because they are bettering themselves and their families. If anything, they will talk amongst themselves wondering how all us old ass $30 employees could possibly have so damn much to cry about.
They are young, healthy and can't wait for us lazy bastards to retire so they can have our jobs... Oh, wait, sounds like me 17 years ago...

They know the situation as they are walking through the door. They are not going to rock the boat the 1st year they are there. It's not like there are plenty more jobs out there with the pay and benefits they will be getting. Good luck to all of them and hang in there. It takes a while, but trust me, it gets better.

Oh, wait, sounds like me 17 years ago... well i would say we arent any better. theres no real reason to think they wont do a quality job. we arent super men. for the most part we are somewhat spoiled and not very bright, really. you dont have to read too much on this board to know that. on the other hand that statement could be made about most people in general ,but thats another story. heres a few facts: the new hires arent gonna be tripling their income since they barely hire in at 2x min. wage.simple math they are hiring in at just a few dollars more than what zappos is hiring at and zappos has a/c and feeds every employee every day. they will want higher wages as soon as they get in the door. to think they wont want what is fair( fair days work for fair days pay goes out the window when two people doing the same work have a 50% wage disparity) is awfully wishful thinking. its like expecting them to think "mmmmmmmm boy this shit sandwich isnt near as runny as the one i ate last week, im not even interested in the bacon cheeseburger the guy next to me got!"it aint gonna be that way!!!!!
