Exactly. I dont agree with everything these guys do. But life is good when there is a crane hanging off of every corner of the building.

Exactly saugerman. The union has very little to do with "Crane's hanging off every corner of the building". Ford's gonna do what Ford needs to do to make A dollar.

And Gettelfinger didn't help LAP stay open? Relationships and state money go along way with Ford. Plus both Louisville plants, people vs workload per department is second to none.

Cranes are great but in 3 yrs it could be a ghost town.Hopefully we will get something (besides fucked) in September. 2015!Theres no denying Ford is rolling in the dough. If these (bargaining com.)guys don't do there job and raise some hell then we are screwed for sure. This is the contract we should get what we want or get the signs out and stroll up and down chamberlain!!!Already heard 2 raises next contract is what we are shooting for, hope they're big ones.

I voted also, hell I think it's rigged but any how that's why we've got to rally together and vote down this next contract and make ourselves heard and quit letting them threaten us with losing our jobs and going on strike if we vote it down, Ford don't have enough balls to move this product cause they would lose a shit load of money, meaning we have a lot more power than people think we have to make changes

I voted and was out the union hall when the machines are pulled...was there when the results were read...there is not any rigged votes...just plain and simple 1/2 the membership doesn't care and not enough against the established in office voted...plain and simple. I agree on the contract vote...25 years and have never voted in favor of a single contract.

1036 voted FOR Eskridge
1010 voted AGAISNT Eskridge
If we could have just had one guy running against him we had a shot, the "divide & conquer" routine is something this administration is well versed in. Enjoy the next 4 years. We will meet back here all in the same boat.

Ok a lot of people out there in trades know who I am, I'm from Mi came dn with expy... In the brief period of time I've been here I've had numerous disagreements with the individuals running 862. I've been cussed out by Rodney Janes (he's not very good at cussing lol).. I know Scott has wanted to ship me north on several occasions maybe still does... But based on my experience with the union structure here I wouldn't support anybody else... they have developed a relationship with the operating committee here that no one else can do at this present time... And trust me twenty 24 yrs as union UAW member here and in Mi that relationship is important in any union. Turn over at the top weakens the union.... with that said tenure breeds complacency ... and this is the most complacent place I ever seen!!! GO ALONG GET ALONG... HEAD DOWN ASS UP... I WANT SUPERVISORS TO LIKE ME (suck ass).... GOT TO CRACK SHELLS TO FRY EGGS!!! You've got to maintain a relationship of mutual respect!!!
How do you do that? understand the contract, we are in the midst of expansion is that because we are the greatest work force.... sorry economics... if ford changes all the logistics to build their highest profit vehicle somewhere else... they be giving up market share while gm is on ropes...
Union not functioning in away u support... The highest ranking authority is the membership, the biggest problem here is complacency I've never seen a more trusting uninformed group, head down ass up, go along get along...hows it working out. most committeepeople are there to get off line...` make them work, be respectful but they answer to the bylaws, the uaw constitution, labor act of 1959, NLRB, etc YOU CAN ASK SCOTT OR BARGAINING TO REPRESENT A POSITION WITHOUT DISRESPECTING THAT PERSON... They disagree... if enough people in the membership agree with issue... then they better...highest ranking authority...
I recently asked about medical mileage for having to drive to workers comp doc... no one had any answers but an hourly gal in labor some committee people were like you need a loan... No its the law, mutual respect dignity people gave up lives for that and we are gonna piss it away... and btw to date they owe me 121.50 for mileage... ever collected comp about 700 week spending my gas on their doc is not happening... AND BASIC KNOWLEDGE PEOPLE REPRESENTING US SHOULD KNOW!!! WTF... If its self serve then I can save 800 a month in dues
I checked into how they plan on representing trades after election... committee people are assigned by districts hence the phrase district committee people... Scott's explaination on districts he established... highest vote getter chooses... this keeps people from running for office, 20 yrs i'm on days... if i run for office my seniority no longer counts, person with highest vote totals chooses shift wtf... you have to be from a district to run for that district... can people in Indiana run to represent people in Ky.. they got more votes we choose what state we represent...lol
I can appeal the election to IEB (International executive board) which by constitution is where election appeals go and probably over turn election...but that's costly for union and pisses a lot of people off. But people on day shift should be able to choose who represents them... people on frame want someone familiar with frame issues ... not someone from paint... NOT TO MENTION WHAT HAPPENS DOES A PERSON GIVE UP SENIORITY WHEN THEY RUN FOR ELECTION... THAT WILL DISCOURAGE SENIORITY PEOPLE FROM RUNNING... just what i want inexperienced lawyer... company likes it too...
TWO STRIKE ABLE ISSUES WHICH IUAW HAVE TO SUPPORT AT PLANT REQUEST ... outside contracting issues for trades and health and safety.... are the restrooms even cleaned... no one cares lay in there and get it!!!
someone asked (tony) vacation time.. its all vacation time in contract wages and other benefits you are allotted 40 hrs as personal time used when needed... max amount of vac time 200 hrs of which 40 can be used as personal time...
lay in there ... OH ELECTIONS ARE BY POPULAR VOTE... DO YOU WANT SOMEONE KNOWLEDGEABLE... OR SOMEONE WHO TELLS YOU WHAT YOU WANT TO HEAR... SHOULD YOU GIVE UP SENIORITY TO RUN FOR OFFICE... DO YOU LIKE LOW SENIORITY REPRESENTING YOU... something about experience best teacher ... ok I'm done have a nice day

A person from Trin on night's should represent trim on days IF they have the senority to do so otherwise, let them represent the niht department. The biggest problem here is that when I hired in, people just ran for committeeman (later changed to committeeperson then back to committeeman again). The thought of District Cmmitteeman was never brought up untl the folks from Ohio came down (not meant to cause problem's). Once this was brought p and question's got asked, I was told by a WELL liked Bargainer that we didn't do District Committeemen because the company would have a way to screw this person over right before an election. I am more concerned that our Union Leadeship want's to screw the membership over by encouraging and a lot of times supporting the worst commiteemen we have. Since this election is all but over, here is a thought. By the next election for committeemen, let the department's decidec who they want to represent them, if it doesn't work out then they can go back to the same old same old. My bet is we will get more people in office that is beter qualified for the area they are representing than what we are getting now.

It's not too late to run the election correctly... any of the 50 election committee people can speak up here!!! How are production districts established (plant chairman establishes districts prior to election notices going out) once a district is established you have to be from that area to represent the area which includes shift....NOT BY VOTE TOTALS! THE AFTERNOON PERSON CAN ONLY RUN FOR AFTERNOONS. If Scott establishes the district as being frame 1 A crew you have to be in frame 1 area on A crew .... So if you are one of the 27 people running for Bargaining Committee and you plan on running for district if you loose as bargaining... you better be from that district you are running for including shift... If you represent frame one A crew YOU HAVE TO WORK IN THAT AREA 30 DAYS PRIOR TO THE ELECTION... OR in the case of multiple term committee people that would have been the last classification you held in that area... Other wise the election is wrong and can be over turned by appeal... The appeal has to submitted within 7days after election to Recording Secretary of local once local denies appeal (and they will) U have to send it to Bob King 8000 jefferson detroit Mi you have to meet 7 day window with local recording secretary or appeal is over....
You want district reps that take care of their districts run election correctly if they are accountable to people they represent they work a little harder plus they understand the issues of the district like A crew having to set up b crew stuff like that or what ever

I am more concerned that our Union Leadeship want's to screw the membership over by encouraging and a lot of times supporting the worst commiteemen we have. Read more: scottrlap.proboards.com/thread/14159/uaw-local-862-election-results#ixzz335K8DPIdoff UAW website Landrum-Griffin Act The Labor-Management Reporting and Disclosure Act (LMRDA) — also known as the Landrum-Griffin Act — deals with the relationship between a union and its members SEC. 101. (a)(1) EQUAL RIGHTS. — Every member of a labor organization shall have equal rights and privileges within such organization to nominate candidates, to vote in elections or referendums of the labor organization, to attend membership meetings and to participate in the deliberations and voting upon the business of such meetings, subject to reasonable rules and regulations in such organization's constitution and bylaws. Every bona fide candidate shall have the right, once within 30 days prior to an election of a labor organization in which he is a candidate, to inspect a list containing the names and last known addresses of all members of the labor organization who are subject to a collective bargaining agreement requiring membership therein as a condition of employment, which list shall be maintained and kept at the principal office of such labor organization by a designated official thereof. Adequate safeguards to insure a fair election shall be provided,..... XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX So as a candidate, for district committee... that district has to be established 30 days prior to election so I can see member list, which is why that district cannot be changed prior to election, which is why you have to be from the district to be elected to the district... including shift assignments... So question... on the ballot does it define the district, does the candidate reside in the district prior to election including shift... or are these at large positions that chairman establishes... how can you be running for district position without clearly defined district anybody out there from election committee that can explain this please do..... can you say election appeal

Another Question... Sorry... How are districts committee positions clearly defined 30 days prior to election when the "highest vote getter" gets to choose shift they work? The shift also defines district, the district defines who is eligible to run.... How can I be free to run for a position that has no defined boundaries e.g. shift, district etc Are all the people who ran for BC and also running for district committee... do they reside in the district they are running for including shift... was that district clearly defined 30 days prior to election....
SORRY JUST REALLY TRYING TO UNDERSTAND ELECTION PROCESS HERE AT KTP.... any election committee people who care to comment on this stuff jump in there... how are the elections not over turned on appeal no one care WTH

Mulewrong no one can tell you about workmans comp because it's in the company's best interest for you not to know. Instead of having a unemployment liaison, how about we get someone that can answer people's questions about workmans comp issues. If you did get hurt at work get a attorney they will help you.

does anyone remember when? they had shuttles that drove you down to vote and they had people give you relief off the line so you could go to the union hall to do so?i bet the turnout would have been alot better if this practice was continued.

Does anyone remember when 60-70-80 percent of the membership voted in elections? I do...but it was 25 years ago...If someone can't stop by the union hall for about 3 minutes a few times every 3 years...then shame on them. My guess is these are the same ones that will blast everyone in the union here on the site as well, yet never attend a single meeting or vote for change.

I have a question about the "districts" you all are talking about. Currently the commitee rotate every 6 months to a different area...ex.from trim to frame, chassis to material handling, etc. Would this rotation not take place in districts? I don't like the idea of being stuck with possibly a terrible commiteeman for 3 years. 6 months with one who barely comes to work is more than enough for me. I do wish they did something different about shift preference. It sucks to see low senior reps on days. When there are 20+ year senior commitee people on nights. When those kind spend their career on days in the union office based off the popular vote (of the few that actually vote) they lose reality of what its like to actually work, never mind the fact that working 15 years on nights destroys relationships. Seniority should still prevail no matter what your title is.
