Because no one can tell us the days we are looking at,basically it sucks give up your premium pay, every other weekend mandatory and then the best one for night shift people....most schedules have 2 or 3 days off at a time so how can you have a normal life when you'll never have anything regular, I dont think it is going over to well at map and chicago

All these Skilled Trades AWS rumors have been based on production going to a 3 crew build operation. I will believe it when it happens. 3 Crew existed at KTP several years ago but it was very difficult for the plant to run it. There were lots of parts shortages due to supplier problems and the Body and Paint Depts could not keep up with Final Assembly. The economy will dictate what actually happens.

Well you can toss that economy idea out the friggin window as the AWS officially starts June 11th for LAP look for it at KTP in the distant future......

Yes, it is already in use at Mich, Chicago, and KC, and I was told will be implemented in all Ford plants eventually. We were surveyed this week for a schedule preference, 4 different crews will be used, 2 on days, 2 on nights, working 12 hour shifts. There are 2 different 2 week work plans, a 4/3 and a 5/2. Every shift will work every other weekend. Time and 1/2 pay will be paid after 10 hours, double time after 10 hours on Sunday. There are more details concerning night shift differential and Holiday pay.

I hadn't heard that but it is possible, don't see why they would yet though, it's only needed for a 3-Crew Production operation.

I didn't know that normal 3 shift schedule is the AWS. KC is on the traditional 3 shift schedule right now. We were on a 5 crew schedule while building the Escape. We had 3 shifts on normal 40 hour schedule and two weekend crews working 12 hours Sat and Sun with one day through the week at 12 hours. This was a great schedule.

The AWS that we are going to is a 4 crew schedule, one group will have Mondays and Tuesdays as their normal off days and the other group will be off Thurs and Fridays. You will work every other Sat and Sun. It will be 12 hour shifts, straight time the first 10 hours and 1 1/2 for two hours. We were surveyed last week, suppose to hear something soon, it takes affect Monday June 11.

I was told by a new arriving KC tradesman that several different schedules had been used in different areas in the plant, I was led to believe it involved the AWS now being started at LAP. Sorry if this is incorrect. We used the 5 Crew Skilled Trades schedule at KTP some years ago when the 3 Crew production schedule was in effect. It was very good in my opinion. The 4 Crew AWS uses less people though so the company desires it.

This will accomodate the 3 crews of production, but doing it now will make sure that there are trades there at work 7 days a week, they are having manpower problems on Saturdays, people are getting tired.

Its being done to cut Skilled Trades labor costs primarily. It will utilize less people than the formentioned 5 Crew, and require 12 hour shifts at less overtime pay.

The list is out and still no one can answer any questions about it, I guess we will figure all of it out in time, kind of like the contract, a page at a time.

Go blue, there will actually 2 different work schedules. 2 day crews, 2 night crews, 7 to 7. One crew will have Mon. & Tues. Off, the other Thurs. & Fri. Both crews work every other weekend. Every 2 weeks it repeats. I'll try to post a copy.

No it's not cutting anyone out, if anything they won't have enough of certain trades... Only people that were previously line workers can "go back"...
