First of all I am tier 2 and I voted for the contract. Secondly stop blaming new hires for this being voted down. Legacy still had majority of votes. If this contract has been voted down (I haven't seen Michigan's numbers yet) then I hope and pray people are right and something better is offered. I personally thought it was a decent contract. I wish they had offered Legacy more then they did but overall I seen a lot of gains, with the insurance and the path to full pay. I'm April 2nd 2012 and the chances for me to roll to Legacy with in the next 6 months to a year were looking pretty good. But I was ok with waiting a few more years. I am also married to a legacy and have most of the benefits she has. So a no vote would have been an obvious choice. I voted yes because I was thinking about the future new hires. The thoughts of a strike scares the hell out of me. It is what it is and at the end of the day all I can do is hope everything works itself out

again I voted yes as a new hire. Look at the numbers. All major plants voted no, but the 5 new hires that you talked to really pushed this one thru lol.
I think it's funny how now that it's peril Settles comes back from his two weeks of being "sick" (during the most important times) to inform people.

Why would someone think that a 2nd offer wouldn't be BETTER?If not why would the 67% of the original NO voters vote yes the next time?

Why would someone think that a 2nd offer wouldn't be BETTER?If not why would the 67% of the original NO voters vote yes the next time? I would assume the second would be better. A lot of people are saying it would be worse, but that's not how negotiating goes. I believe we had a "good" deal. I also believe that we ( 2nd tier ) deserve a faster track to full wages. I've been with LAP for just under 4 years so I would be halfway there, but 15 years ago I would already be at full pay. 8 years seems a little ridiculous. I also believe that Tier 1 employees deserve more than the 2 raises and 2 lump sums that was offered . I know a lot was given up 12 years ago and I have Tier 1 family members so I've heard all about it. I don't think the second agreement will have a pony and a trip to Disneyland , but I hope to see some beneficial adjustments for both Tiers and nothing removed.

Be proud of your vote. Be proud of your union. Be mad at the ones who didn't vote. Voting is our best tool..I just hope everyone knows how to use it.

If there is a revote, the 20% of people that didn't vote will come out and vote yes That's because the union reps will be on a full court press of scare tactics and the polling booths will be moved inside the plant. We've already seen that movie...

The union has the option to bring the exact same contract up for a revote, with the added bonus that a "no" vote will result in a strike........

The union has the option to bring the exact same contract up for a revote, with the added bonus that a "no" vote will result in a strike........ They also have the option of accepting the contract on our behalf anyway I believe. Teamsters did this at UPS for their last contract and it was voted down by a wider margin than what we are looking at. If we finish 49-51 or 48-52 your talking 500-1500 total vote difference & I woikdnt be suprised to see them just accept it anyway. Not sure if our constitution has the same language as UPS but would imagine it is hidden somewhere in the depths of it.

So we account for less than 7% of the cost of the vehicles, but paying us more raises the costs substantially? Yeah, I don't think so.

Omg. After what Jimmy told Fords VP Hinrichs. " there's NO MORE $$$ to be had by going back to the bargaining table." WTF. Pass this rag before our leadership has any more to do with it. ** Surrender before the fight. I thought only the French did that. Ha.

Actually what Hinrichs said was more in line with what Jimmy should have said, basically we thought it was a good deal but if the membership disagrees, then we go back to the table.

Things will be eliminated in place of more signing bonus or maybe getting the minute back on the hour...things move to make the membership happy but nothing gained overall...when you get something better you lose something elsewhere.
