What is the fate of C-Crew ? There are rumors around that they are gone before the year is out. Has anyone heard anything?

That rumor has been around ever since they started C-crew and like you I am hearing it again. As a rule, before any "permanent" layoff there will be weeks of one week on and one week off to reduce production. Recently I have heard that after the retool C-crew will not come back right away but this is not unusual. The auto market is and has always been erratic and Ford couldn't predict with any amount of certainty what the market will be by the end of the year. As the old adage goes "Prepare for the worst, hope for the best".

Go to another thread and we are working 12 hour days and 10 Sundays. Don't let rumors bother you. Super Duty is a model that is needed more than anything. If there is a possibility of a prolonged down turn ,the first thing that would happen is 5/8 again for all 3 shifts. Stop worrying,or go to school and get out of the hell hole. Otherwise just go to work everyday and be on time.

This is the LAP thread. We do not build super duty. We build the Escape and MKC.

Well here at LAP we are hearing new rumors about C-Crew being eliminated and that Ford is supposed to announce something tomorrow. Has anyone else heard anything?

If they are hiring there, we likely wouldnt do rotating down weeks at LAP.

Well that reply about rotating etc is months old. Who knows, if C Crw is gone it will of course be according to sales, we could stay on 4 days, 10 hrs. Go to 5 - 8hrs, go to 5 -10 hrs, it will be all about sales. I dont see us rotating shifts if we lose c crew unless sales just completely tank, if that happens we're all in trouble. Cheap gas isnt helping our product either, thats why its never safe to have just one product( I know we have the Lincoln, but its basically just a dressed up version of the same thing. Who knows...maybe they announce something tomorrow, maybe they dont......

Won't need 2? So are you saying we are going to 1 shift? I'm guessing thts a typo & you meant 3. Either way, why would that matter? we've had 3 crews for every launch since 2010

My memory isn't so great anymore but I don't believe c-crew had started when we first launched the Escape. I remember laughing my ass off because one week before c-crew was to start they posted a repair bid (or acceptance letter-don't recall which) for someone to go to the brake/ac hoist. That's not exactly a walk on job.
All of these rumors been flying around for so long now and I've tried to analyze what's going on although I should know better. At first I decided that they weren't going to lay off c-crew because they posted repair jobs for C-Crew for the launch and the temporary jobs to cover the repair guys while they were on the launch. Then I remembered what a cluster it was during the Escape launch because they should have been training c-crew repairmen along with the others. This would have given them extra repair for the launch plus they would have been somewhat experience/trained repairmen by the time they started their shift. But Ford never does the reasonable thing, usually. If the recent rumors are correct they would be doing exactly what they should have done on the Escape launch. Perhaps someone got their ass chewed on the Escape launch for not training repair for C-crew until a week before they started. It's a crap shoot what they will do. When we first heard about a major model change it was told then that C-Crew would not be called back when the launch started but would be brought in later. Can somebody tell me when the launch is suppose to start? Rumored announcement for this week and launch dates don't seem to jive.
These C-Crew rumors has been going around for so long that if they were true and planned that far in advance then bids for C-Crew launch would not be needed. Sounds more like a delayed call back for C-Crew.
I did talk to someone who said their son was told by committee person that company would be making an announcement this week. Take it with a grain of salt, committee usually doesn't know anything, just ask them! They'll get back with you.
Just thoughts. I have no ideal what's going on.

Thought it was August. So if there is an announcement tomorrow\this week it doesn't have anything to do with a temporary layoff of c-crew for a launch.

Straight from the Committeeman's lips to my ears: There will be "Town Hall" type meetings for all three shifts. Day shift is Thursday, Night Shift is Friday, and C-Crew is Saturday. They will be reading from a prepared statement. This is suppose to take place in the Lincoln Garage so bring a jacket.

No one really knows anything yet, it's all speculation till we actually have some kind of meeting and something official is said. Some of what is being said may be true, but until it's official it's just talk

that's good news. cant imagine why ktp would need 800 though Sounds like a bandaid to me.Why would WE need another shift of very expensive SUVs?No way sales stay high.So get the 2012s over here then claim”Sales are down”right around 9/2019 contract time.My only hope is Big BUYOUTS FOR LEGACY

Has LAP been hiring the last few years? Are the people coming to KTP going to be legacy employees? 2016 hires? 2012 hires? Any idea?
Trying to gauge my move here at KTP before it’s too late.

Is there a way to get the seniority list for LAP and KTP to find out where someone would fit in if they take the move to KTP?

Any transfers to KTP will be going to work available in final. So the seniority list really won’t be helpful until you know what department and/or shift you’d be placed in.

The people coming from Lap will be bringing alot of seniority. our lowest people are 2014 and 2016 and there are very few of them. i expect alot 2012s to go.

Top half with 2012? No way.
We have a bunch of 2010-12, too. 2012 might be able to hold days in trim.
