Everyone’s situation and ideas are different, maybe they don’t want to retire? Maybe they have sick parents they are taking care of, or maybe a sick spouse, or kids. I don’t know, maybe they actually enjoy working here, doesn’t effect anyone but them, not sure why everyone is always so concerned about everyone else in this place. Stay safe

Stay safe Agree on all that but enjoy working here part ...Sad thing people dont realize is if you don’t retire before you turn 62 you won’t get the FULL 30 retirement rate.At 62 it almost cuts in half..I’m gone with 85pts and will get 2700.Then at 62 drops to 1400 plus 1300 SS.Thats me tho..Peace!

I'm kinda confused here about the 30 year rate. I'll have my 30 in when I'm 54. I'm assuming that I will get the full rate. I sure as hell don't plan on staying until I'm 62/65

The longer one works past 30 years the more one's Ford retirement benefit once he does retire. For example, someone who retires at age 65 (Regular Retirement) with 45 years of credited service is going to have a much higher Ford retirement benefit than someone who retires with 30 years of credited service (Early Retirement). The 65 year-old in this example will also collect a lot higher Social Security benefit.
When you say "cut in half" you are referring to the Ford Supplemental Benefit given to those who retire after only 30 years and less than age 62. The Ford Supplemental Benefit ends once one turns age 62. One is expected to then supplement his Ford Retirement Benefit with a Social Security Benefit, one's own retirement savings, or both. Some have to resort to going back to work.
I know how much I will collect in Ford retirement benefit and Social Security benefit on the date I plan to retire. Do all of you? Will it be enough yearly fixed income to live on for a long time (taking into consideration inflation over the years)? I make all my retirement planning based on the assumption I will live to see age 85. YMMV.

Basically they force you to draw early SS at age 62, even though full retirement age is 65. Ford saves money and you lose money if you draw SS at age 62. Regardless of how you save and plan, if you draw at 62 you are losing money!!

I just looked at mine.If I retire at 58 with 27 yrs I’ll get 2675 until I’m 62 then it drops to 1460 and I’ll get around 1409 from SS.(But that SS number is based on what I’m making now ,so I’ll prolly get a PT time job to keep adding to my SS.)If I stay til I get 65 I get 1675 so for 7 more yrs I get 215 more?Bye bye at 58 for me..

Regardless of how you save and plan, if you draw at 62 you are losing money!! Wrong...they do not force you to take ss at 62, you lose your supplement at age 62, you do not have to draw your ss then if you do not want to. You can wait until full ss age to draw and therefore not have it reduced.

Not a chance in hell of living on that, will draw from my TESPHE to make up the difference for a few years until I reach full SS age. Hope everyone is/has been shoving money in there for the past 25 years or so. Only so many beans and rice recipes out there.

Don’t you have to be 591/2 to draw tesphe out without penalty? Wrong again....if you are retired collecting a pension you can make withdrawals before 59 1/2. No offense here guys and girls but for everyone on here ready to retire in the next few years you need to start doing some research, it’s your future. Stay safe people

For every year past 62 that you work your social security goes up approximately $150 a month. That's why I stayed. Going on this contract for sure.

I wish we would go back to fidelity managing our 401k and retirement accounts. I don’t like the new one we just got.

Fidelity was easier to read and operate the system. Probably cost too much for ford

I'll be out of here around 30 years, 54 years old. I'll have my ducks in a row financially. I'll still work, just not in here putting up with the BS.

I hired in at 21 yrs old in 199five.. if I can snag 1 of those joint inspector gigs. I won't mind working til I am 65 and will have 44 yrs in.. the last 20 yrs I can handle just fine sitting on my ass most of the day.. With 6 weeks of time off , holidays, profit sharing , etc... .

They bid 19 total joint inspectors.. Waiting for my email saying I will never have to work the line again. I'm sick of how they are cutting heads in the new body shop. It's sad!! Been on c crew for about 90% of my time at Ford anyways...
