Even Alito and Thomas made it clear that although they believed the court should have HEARD the case (a prodecural objection) they would have then rejected the argument. Oh that pesky Constitution! Trump has wanted to steal the 2020 election all along. His pipe-dream was that his appointment of Amy Cony Barrett would seal the deal if the outcome was decided in the U.S. Supreme Court. But Trump is a lawless moron who never considered that "strict constructionist" judges would actually follow the U.S. Constitution - the Law of the Land - rather than indulge Trump's delusional desires. You may not like it, but the Republican-controlled legislatures in Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Arizona and Nevada all decided that their absentee ballots be counted only AFTER all the in-person ballots were counted. Many other states count their mail-in ballots as they arrive facilitating a timely conclusion to the vote tally. So the delay was avoidable but in Pennsylvania (for example) the Republican-controlled legislature opposed a Democratic proposal to change their procedure to produce a timely tally. In any event every ballot counted, in-person or absentee, was cast before the end of the day of November 3rd. They were not EXTRA votes. Nor did they miss the ACTUAL deadline of being cast by the end of the day on November 3rd. The assertion that there is some kind of deadline for WHEN THE TALLY of all the legally-cast votes must be concluded is just a whiny bullshit meme that originates with the Piece of Shit in Chief. All based on the sketchy evidence presented by Trump's legal team. And the Trump legal team has NOT alleged FRAUD in any court before any judge. They do not dare because they know that making such an unsupported allegation in court could result in sanctions up to and including the loss of their licenses to practice law. All the FRAUD talk coming from Giuliani and others is in other forums as fodder for the consumption of the Trumpkin herd. All the states have certified their vote tally. On Monday, 538 electors will meet in their respective state capitols to choose the next President of the United States. On January 6th a joint session of Congress will count the electoral votes. Republicans can and undoubtedly will make noise and attempt to slow things down, but without a House majority, they won’t be able to throw out any electors. Once that is done Trump's and Pence's term in office will end at noon on January 20th. At that moment they will no longer have the power to issue orders to the military or anyone else. If they refuse to leave the White House they will be forcibly escorted out by the Secret Service. Shortly after, on January 20th, Joe Biden will be inaugurated as the 46th President of the United States of America. |
