I've seen people who tan so much, they are orange...
I've seen people steal from the cafeteria, even though they make $30+ an hour?
I've seen people pick every orifice of their bodies on the line...
I've seen people fall asleep in-between jobs...
I've seen people eat 3 coarse meals in-between jobs...
I've seen people wait 2 hours for a pee call...
I've seen more gay people than I have seen in my entire life...
I've learned the gay people are nicer than the straight ones....
I've seen "veterans" who can't hold my job for 10 minutes while I go to the bathroom w/o setting off the error proofing alarm...hmmm
I've seen temps get blamed for things the upgraders didn't fix...
I've seen temps afraid to go to medical, in fear of losing their jobs...
I've seen people get cussed out for no reason...
I've seen so much sexual harrassment it's unreal...
I've seen cigarettes being lit all over the plant...
I've seen the smallest fire truck in the world...lol
I've heard noises that I can only describe as "animal-like" when it's time for break...
I've seen some of the fattest mice ever...
I've seen some really nice people, who are miserable with their jobs and it's sad...
I've met the rudest HR (Human Resources) lady in the world, who is allergic to perfume... WTF?
I've seen dedication and I've seen people who just don't care, and spit on the trucks...
I've worked a job that smelled like piss in the cargo area...
I've seen a truck come through the line two different colors, and no one noticed...
I've met some really funny people, who really should be on Comedy Central and not at Ford...
I've been hit on by people older than my own mother...
I've seen engineers that are too good to make eye contact with the workers...
I've seen Explorers that haven't really changed much ( cosmetically atleast )in 15-16 years...c'mon now
I haven't seen so many people acting like small children since I was in pre-school...
I've met some of the nicest people ever...
I've met some of the nastiest people ever...
I've seen so many temps become scapegoats...
I've seen people who really care, and twice as many who don't...
I've seen some great pay checks, but at what cost?
I see a better future for me outside of Ford... ;D

Nice post temp...good luck with your future. Get your degree, life is much better outside of a factory. It's easy to get hooked on the good pay and benefits, but the damage working in a factory has on your mind and body is not really worth it. It's all about getting lazy, it's what we're taught.

Is this list still going? I guess I have to throw mine in there........
I've seen: "Oldtimers" stock just drop!
Temps that were terrific workers
Temps that were crappy workers and thought I "owed" them something,
People that are forgiving
People that are quick to judge,
People stand up for one another
and people stab their coworker in the back,
super soaker fights at shutdown
girls looking like they were in a wet Tshirt contest because of the supersoakers!
people that were gracious and appreciative
and people that never realize how fortunate they are,
people that will lend you a hand
and people that will steal you blind,
good people lose their morals
and lazy sacks of crap become good people,
strippers taking off their clothes inside the plant
and people that I wish would wear more clothes,
coworkers celebrate a new birth
and I've buried too many coworkers or their family,
coworkers confide in me with their darkest secrets
and coworkers tell some of my secrets,
us vilified in the press and public opinion
and thanked by every charitable organization,
a supervisor step over someone injured to turn the line back on
and a supervisor shamed by us line workers for doing it,
supervisors promise me the moon if I take on more work
and supervisors cuss me out because I didn't, (Cowboy!)
people bitch and moan about workloads
but too afraid to fight the work,
myself fall asleep between jobs
myself studying for school between jobs,
my mind ooze out of my ears on the line from boredom
my mind exercised when I went back to school,
people support me for going to school
jealous people make fun of me for going to school,
fistfights in the aisles
and in the parking lot,
too much other stuff in the parking lots!
hourly people have sex in the plant
supervisors having sex with their emolyees in the plant,
female workers enjoy sexual harrassment
it until an ugly guy joined in the conversation,
coworkers become friends
a coworker lose my friendship over a lie,
piece of sh*t committeepeople
piece of sh*t supervisors,
people hit on me and offer oral sex
those same people become offended when I tell them I'm married,
some hot people I would hook up with
some people I wouldn't set my dog up with,
people that thought they were hot
people that don't know the meaning of the word,
the union screw some people
the company screw almost everyone!
me throw more gloveballs than I care to count
a former coworker hit me with a gloveball full of bolts!!
people treat the vehicles as one of their own
someone put a used tampon in the back of a freshly painted unit,
the same fat mouse "mystery temp" saw
and all kinds of animals/insects come in my stock,
rumors spread for fun
rumors spread to hurt people,
me get one over on all of the supervisors
them screw up my pay,
me not get paid for "time served"
me acquire some new nick nacks to make it even,
people begging to get in here
people begging to get out of here,
me give a ride to coworkers
me disassemble a supervisors bike!
me quietly fight for others
the line "mysteriously" being dismantled by 4 maintenance workers when we returned from break (the looks on the supervisors and superintendants faces were PRICELESS!!!!)
a few good people fall off the wagon
me fix a few wagons,
coworkers never touch alcohol
coworkers so bombed we lay them in the stock,
some union appointee go WAY above to help me
another appointee not give me the time of day,
profit sharing!
profit sharing??
me grease the supervisors phone only to have him answer it
the same supervisor answer it again before he could clean it off!!
me welcome new hires to the area and mentor them
me use a horn and scare the sh*t out of them!
peopled get pied on the anniversary
me pie people for no apparent reason,
some drug activity in the workplace
people fired for that,
some really good people become my friends
some not so good people become my friends,
this place open so many eyes
this place is like any other factory!
this website become a good forum for employees to share thoughts
this website as a "Bible" for rumors.
Overall though, I've seen a lot and hope to see some more!

One night I saw a guy reach down his pants and scratch his nuts then smell his hand...then proceed to scratch all night long... I seriously thought I might throw up
I watched a full time employee who was about 5 foot 3 pick on a 6 foot temp one night and try to start a fight...
I watched cowboy chase his cell phone down the main aisle one night drunk as a skunk...
I watched one female supervisor go down on another female worker at the bar one night...
I watched the same female supervisor with pussy on her breath try to "give me a ride home" that same night
I watched one of my supervisors get an erection one night when he stood next to me and kept smelling my neck cause he liked my perfume...
I watched many a temp walk out cause they couldn't take it mentally or physically
I watched one employee for 5 hours one night... all I can say is I creamed myself
I watched the same employee ask me out the same night and was too shy to meet them at the bar
I watched a girl throw up on the line for a week straight only to realize she was expecting a baby
I watched many people try to train on my job only to say later they couldn't believe a woman does it
I watched my quality leader never take me seriously unless I told him I was on the rag
I watched men act like boys and boys act like men
I watched people smile at the break bell
I watched a ton of old men drink beer and smoke cigs in the lot
I watched beautiful, fit bodies work really hard every night I also saw bodies that had forgotten their shape get torn down by the same jobs I watched a girl lose almost 40 pounds on the line across from me I saw myself lose two dress sizes in less than a month I watched one night myself almost pass out on the line from sheer exhaustion I watched 4 doors hit the floor while I stood over them and laughed at the thought of trying to pick them up alone
I watched myself leave LAP with a lump in my throat thinking of the good, bad, and straight ugly times I've had there

That would about sum up the good, bad, and ugly tubetop. lol. I left with a lump in my throat too. You can never replace the camaraderie of the people on the line. Like them, love them, or hate them it was a team that somehow worked together each and every night to do the best job possible and produce quality products. I miss each and every one of them.

I have seen my four children grow up via my cell phone. I have seen those same four kids have an easier life because of a Ford paycheck. I have seen a co-worker(single mom) buy a house and take her son on wonderful vacations. I have seen that same co-worker cry on the line missing him. I have seen some of the funniest pranks pulled on supervisors/co-workers. I have laughed till i cried....and cried till i laughed. I have seen my marriage endure, and others not survive. I have met co-worker's wives and liked them, only to watch same co-workers cheat every night. I have been to sexual harassment classes. I have seen that it is alive and well at FMC. I have seen some of the best human beings in the world. I have seen some of the meanest people in the world. I have seen myself broken. I have seen myself stronger than i ever thought i could be. I have seen grown men cry. I have seen women endure the unthinkable. I have seen unequaled kindnesses. I have seen unequaled cruelties. I have seen a thriving drug business. i have seen the ruination of many good people. I have seen the death of several. I have seen some of the best times. I have seen some of the worst times. I have missed many beautiful sunsets. I have seen more beautiful sunrises.
Some days i regret ever walking in the plant...other days i know i wouldn't be who i am if i hadn't.

Great post, so here goes.
I've seen a man raffle off a hooker, hotel room and bottle of booze in the cafateria.
I've seen a superintendant call a teamleader on the open radio and ask him to "have jim get his beer cans off the control panel."
Ive seen a UAW quality rep take over the assistant plant managers meeting and tell half the plant the manager was full of shit quality wasn't better and that ford would throw enough money at JD power that we would be truck of the year for the first time.............and guess who won truck of the year.
I saw Tony Huck (UAW safety rep.) close the plant down 2 days before he was to retire. And he did it knowing he was completly wrong and could be fired for it. When i asked him why he'd take that chance his answer was "he fuckin lied to me its about principle now"
I saw times I hated the Union and times that I loved it.
I saw a chick i thought was hot in cleanup married her and had 2 kids.
I saw more people on steroids then pro sports could ever dream of.
I saw a man lose a leg to a motorcycle and his life to cancer. but never lose his smile or love of life.
and i'm sure I'm about to see myself flamed in post's since i spoke nicely of the union. jk

It popped and my two buddys saved my ass and worked in the RAIN the last hour.

Gr8...once I get out of school, I would love to turn this into a book. With participation by as many as possible, this could/would make a great book. Thanks for sharing...good read! If you are serious about the book ideal, check out the book called "End of the Line" by Richard Feldman & Michael Betzold. If my memory is correct, it was written by a Ford worker in Michigan and included passages from other co-workers. Many shared stories of divorces, drug use (job related and other), and all of the stuff we share on here. It was a great read, but only for most people in this field of work. I believe it was wrote back in the 80's and is freakishly related to issue we have today.... (economy, lay offs, shitty workers, etc)...... Enough for me, I'm horney! Where is my favorite fork boy Marcus when I need him??

Those are awesome posts. When you write your book Scott, also try to include some of these lines that I got from the experienced, retiring guys I've worked with. -If we are the only plant in the world building the explorer, and YOU are better at your job than the person on the other shift, then be proud, because YOU are the best in the world at what you do. -With everything you do in here, give it your best, because if anything ever happens to this place you'll always want to be able to look back and say that you did everything you could. -Be nice and look out for the people that work around you, because you're going to be around them for a very long time. -Never play practical jokes on people that have more free time than you do. -You'll know when you have a good job, it's when people ask you if you're on break. -Management creates every problem that you'll encounter, we just have to deal with them.

Here are some things I remember working at LAP. John Ray, best foreman I ever had, having his first chew of tobacco and laying in the stock rack sick for the rest of the day. Geraldine and Maxine going into the men's bathroom to see what they could see. TRA- What a joke! Throwing glove fireballs at my co-workers after soaking them in Naptha. Setting off firecrackers with time-delayed cigarette 20 units down the line. Having my first and only time on strike duty. Smoking a couple of joints with Ralph and Chester in the parking lot, and being too screwed up to work after lunch. Putting deer smell on gloves and hiding them in the heater cores of LTD's. What a great time, and a great life, most of these events happened in the 1970's.

I've seen me walk out for the last time (possibly) on my way to KTP I've seen me have lunch with Bill Ford for winning the Ambassador Club trip I''ve seen me work through lunch in body shop I've seen me loose my lunch in the parking lot. I've seen many hot days in the convoy lot I've seen many cold days in the convoy lot. I've seen hotter days welding in body shop. I've met a lot of great people at LAP!
