I wonder if a reason was giving for working nightshift, dayshift hours? There is no reason that makes sense. People are frantic and scrambling right now trying to find day care at such short notice when they could have just worked day shift and done a 2 week UI on B-crew and related crews layed off in other areas. I do not have small children and I argued this for all of you who do. When we did the rotating layoffs in 2008, there was enough time for people to make arrangements. IT'S DERBY WEEK. Day shift and upper management get the whole week off to play. This is the best reason I can think of for them to screw up folks lives at such short notice. How nice. :

Well, we once again have to adjust our already short sleeping patterns to accomodate the almighty Ford, fine. All i can say is id like to think there might be ALOT MORE than a handful of folks from all areas that show up late at least once next week. Im planning on it myself, ya i know, cry baby, i wont disagree with that.... just tired of nights ALWAYS being the ones who has to adjust..... strong union?..... nope.

At least it is Derby week and you have an opportunity to go to some of the evening events for a change.

These people won't be going to Derby events, they will be coming home and going to bed. LOL I have already heard from many night shifters that say they will arrive late and AWOL at least once. When the union won't fight for you, you have to fight for yourself. If everyone didn't show up one day, they would get the message. Talk about funny...but BIG problem...no way you can get everyone to stay home. You will always have the 600 who show up.

The main reason they always give for bringing them in on day shift hours...so all the front office people don't have to work night shift hours. There is no other reason IMHO. Don't expect JoeBob to come in at 430pm and work all night...although I have seen him in the plant at LAP late at night when a major problem occurred.

LOL...understand your point of view, but I also understand the point of view of those that either have to adjust their way of living week to week or those that absolutely hate day shift. The "happy to have a job" quote has grown old with many of us.

I agree too. Im off next week and would rather be working. I had enough TLO the last 2-3 years. The people that are bitching about having to work should realize that the reason some people are off is not a good one. Just go to work and get the frak over it and quit your bitching.

First of all....I realize this turns sensentive rather quickly with ones on ilo, and there is no one more than me currently working as I am, that wishes no one to have to go through what you union brothers and sisters are going through... My point would be it was the company that did not keep you guys working like previously promised (til atleast November of last year) the point is they do what the want....when there is suppose to be a union to have your back and mine! That being said I hope for you and all others currently Laidoff a speedy return and or find some work til you are able to come back!

LOL It's harder to find quality daycare for 2 weeks than it is to make permanent arrangements. This will make people have to leave their kids somewhere they would probably rather not leave them for no reason other than to convenience the company. If everyone had the mentality to "be glad you have a job" we would have given up the right to strike along with a lot of other things. This involves people kids so it is a problem big problem for some people.

We gave that away years ago. The company knows the UAW is too weak to strike. That is why we vote on the same contract over and over till it passes.
Attention All RUMOR MILL POSTERS!!! YOU are no longer allowed to complain about anything, because YOU have a job!!!! YOU are not allowed to complain!! Suck it up and be glad YOU have a job!!! YOUR days of free speech are OVER!! YOUR opinions no longer matter!!! YOU are no longer allowed to complain about ANYTHING!!!!

Ive talked to about 15 B crew guys so far that are thrilled to be working days Derby week. Guess those people dont post on this board. lol
Personally, I worked B crew for 10 yrs and this would have caused me childcare issues but I would have figured it out and then been fine with it because its Derby week. It lasting more than one week would have sucked for my family.

I enjoy a healthy debate/argument...this is one of many issues which is probably split 50/50. Some hate days, don't want it ever...others want to be on days, but don't have enough seniority, so they may enjoy the tease of being of days. Thanks for the posts!

Am I missing something? We are working days this week only?what is the two week reference? Yeah it was a mutha trying to get child on a short notice. Also heard supplier went bankrupt. could be many more down weeks to come if new supplier isn't found quickly. the chip we use in 4x4 is also used in cell phones, so Ford is trying to get as many chips as possible.

This chip is used by us (KTP) and the Rouge and Kansas City. It is also used by GM and Apple for the I-Phone. The last shipment was sold to Apple because they out bid everyone else by $63,000 ! Next thing in the works is sending all the chips to KTP to keep us running.

What schedule did the committeperson say we would be on? Back to 5-8's or 4 10's? Really don't think paint can keep up on the 4-10's..we ran terrible last night. Worked right up to quitting time and still didn't have the shop full...

Sorry guys I was out of town and couldn't post. I guess if I'm not here for you guys to blame you turn on each other it seems.
Ok, here we go................
When this was being worked out, it was believed that the plant was going to be down to one shift for at least a month, and possibly even longer. We told the company that being down to one shift that long we wanted to rotate the down weeks between crews. Ford, wanting to only work dayshift hours, said they would just lay off nights for the whole month or however long it may be. Not thinking this was right, since it was placing all the financial burden on one crew we argued to have B crew work the dayshift hours and rotate, as well as rotate body and paint.
Remember we did this on the information that it would be a month or longer.
They are now redirecting the chips so that KTP should be able to run both shifts now. If we had known this at the time we would have just laid B crew off for this week. I know some on here prefer their time off. But, if you want a BC to fight for you to be laid off more I'm not your man. Being a whole month we felt was too big of a hit to NOT bring B crew to days to rotate in order to minimize the financial burden. That is 100% why it was done this way.
Now that it has changed I understand everyones frustration, but at least put yourself in our shoes and think of what you would have done for KTP as a whole based on what was probably going to happen at the time.
We will work 4x10's next week in final. After that it looks like we will be running too much OT to do that , they will be trying to make up all the lost production so we will probably run 5x9.5
