I know someone else mentioned this...and it sounds like it may be coming true as long as things at work continue to go the way they are currently.

They passed out a hand bill today that said that IF we only work one shift next week it will be night shift and they will work day shift hours. Sorry guy's! Well we are at home and the hand bill wont be sent to us. Sooooooo that means someone needs to get in gear and Notify 1st shift if we are working dayshift or not next week. The sooner the better that we find out so "WE CAN MAKE CHANGES". If any Union REP knows of this change for 1st shift work schedual "PLEASE POST SOMETHING!"

My union guy mentioned that IF they decide to only work one shift he "thinks" they have to decide it by tomorrow so that they can inform the shift that has to work. I would be looking for a robo call. For my 2 cents I still think both shifts are going to work but not for 10 hour shifts but what do I know.

Worked B crew paint tonight they handed out a memo that stated that #1 and #2 shifts are working the normal 8 hour shifts next week, and #3 would be TLO if the parts problem continues.

I think it stinks that night shift would have to work day shift on such short notice. People do have lives!

It's ridiculous, but remember one thing, they care nothing about our lives outside of work. Hasn't it been obvious since day one?

In only instances like these am I glad my kids are grown and I don't have to worry about day care. Finding quality child care on such short notice sometimes it's almost impossible..that is why people work off shifts to accomadate their family lives...but like Scott said Ford cares nothing about our life outside of work.

Contractually I believe, Ford must notify employees with a 5 day notice before they can change your work shift. I've been there and am 99% sure of that. Be sure to check it out with your truthful commitee person.

Got notice last night that in paint and body #3 shift will be off. But also stated that there is a 50/50 chance of that due to parts. But if parts is still an issue, it is confirmed #3 shift off. #'s 1 and 2 shifts will be working. As for Saturday, No Way that is true!

Well, I will try and make it into work. Gotta find someone to watch my 6 month old and 5 year old.
I dont think they should be able to change start times like that without a alot of advanced notice. Or, the damn union should realize, many of us have young kids, and if they let it happen, they should supply the child care.
I know not showing up to work wont hurt them any for doing it, but showing up to work and half ass working will, they piss me off.

Of course I don't KNOW this..........just heresay, but they may bring in some dayshift people to work next week with night shift.........when they work the dayshift schedule. I believe (again, just rumor) this is to cover the night shift workers who "can't" work days. So let me get this straight, senior employees might have to come in that would otherwise be laid off to cover junior employees that "can't" work the different start time.............?? Tell me again about the importance of seniority? FWIW, I'm just stirring shit. I'll again qualify this post by saying I have NO idea if its true or not...................

driveshaftgrunt gets it right....kind of. In fact IF you guy's (night shift) work next week there will be some day shift people there with you. Today they surveyed all of us and asked us if we wanted to come in and work next week IF you all worked. Of course we all said NO and then they told the lowest seniority person on each team that they HAD to work next week. We will see how this all plays out, there is a lot about it that doesn't make sense, but that after all is Ford's way!

The A crew people that have to come in next week has nothing to do with B crew employees that "cant" work. In SD trim today we were told by super. and by committeeman that only jobs that were still being rebalanced and/or needed training would have to report. It has nothing to do with seniority and yes, they can do that! Our senior guy on the team has to come in. Union was right there when it was said. We have B crew people working with us this week on all SD lines during dayshift, they were not called in by seniority either. ( some volunteered I believe).

It is funny how things change by department. In frame today our superintendent told us we are bringing in one person from every team (usually the lowest seniority person-unless someone volunteer's) to cover awol's and absentee's. In our department it has nothing to do with work re-balancing or training.

That is probably one the strangest things about my time at KTP so far...dept. by dept., they have their own rules which affect day to day business. Somewhere along the line the union gave them the free will to do whatever they choose to do. Total joke! The only good part...11-7 in body still gets to work 11-7, but the box line got screwed as usual. The normal 3am-11am will work 11pm-7am...3pm-11pm will work 7am-3pm. Talked about messed up.

Let me add, they really shouldn't be able to change our hours, even with a 5 day notice as long as there are still 2 shifts. Either work the shift that matches the hours you want or survey both shifts to see who gets to work. The ones that decide they don't want to work different hours other than their norm should get to sit at home and draw SUB and UI...if not enough volunteers, then the seniority kicks in...youngest would work.
