My son has had the test, physical, application, background check, EVERYTHING but a date to start.... Does he have a good chance? When do the hiring floodgates open?

My son has had the test, physical, application, background check, EVERYTHING but a date to start.... Does he have a good chance? When do the hiring floodgates open? In 1999 Labor called me Wednesday PM and told me to be at KTP on Friday AM. I went to my then current job on Thursday and could not give any notice, other than, today is my last day. They can call at any time. I am sure you see all the new hires walking through your area almost weekly. Good luck to your son.

The current LTS employees that came in in early August should be close to getting Entry Level right?

Do new hires automatically go to final line or is any chance in body? Just curious. My plant in Illinois is closing at the end of this month after working there 25 years in body shop. Waiting to hear if I am getting an interview at your plant.

We are going to have new hires on forks, metal/paint repair (LTS employees testing/training to do metal/paint repair right now because bids weren't filled)...all of the bids that were not filled will be given to LTS and new hires...how's that for coming in off the street and never working on the assembly line? People didn't bid, now some will be on C crew working harder than new hires...lucky for them.

I understand the material handling jobs no body want to go to c crew just to drive forklift. What kills me is I know people with 15 years that took the test for metal/paint repair and were told they did not pass. Seems to me they would give a little time to train rather than give it to a lts/new hire.

i was at CAP when they added the second shift. new hires walk right in to the best jobs in the plant, its amazing. now, whats bad is that they are spoiled by that. they have no idea what its like on the line and dont appreciate the good job that they get.

Are layoffs common at KTP and something I would have to worry about? The plant I work at hardly ever laid off. And how about Attrition? Is there a big turnover there or are there a lot of folks going to retire soon? Just kinda scary selling house hear in Illinois and moving down to Kentucky thinking I might get laid off in the near future. I know its the Auto Industry right!!!

Long Term Supplemental Temporary workers that work longer than 90 days. Lay offs are not common Turn over has been quite low due to all the early retirements during buy outs. Next wave of retirements are just getting ready to come around again in the next few years I think. Major hire here due to large plant expansion and launching third crew in final.

Appreciate the Info. We have Supplementals but they only work on Mondays and Fridays. They don't have a long term title. Sounds like if I get hired there I will have a lot to learn!! A lot different than our small low producing plant. Thanks!

My wife takes the test on November 16, what can she expect? She should expect a long day and a bunch of math and logic/personality questions. I was in testing from 1pm-830pm on a Sunday.

ktpveteran6499:
I have spoken with some who have taken the test and it is not difficult. Here's my take on the whole process: 1. They tell you to expect to be there for six hours. Why should the test take six hours? They want to see how dedicated the applicant really is. 2. In reality, it is closer to eight hours. Why? They want to weed people out. 3. Some parts of the test are almost impossible to complete in the allotted time. Why? Again, to weed people out.
I could go on, but my point is that it seems as though every step in the process is one more way of getting rid of those who are not dedicated enough to continue. That's my opinion. Take it for what it's worth.
Good luck to your wife.
