Herb asked me to start this thread about the misconceptions that the C-J printed this morning about those of us on ILO losing our callback rights if we turn down the job offer to Chicago. So tune back in around 8pm and he will be here to answer any other questions as well.

Does Ford have discount Cub tickets for sale during the season?
How many people are laid off throughout Ford that can sign up to go to Chicago, and will it have any effect on us returning?
Heard on the news that they currently have people laid off in Chicago.

Hey herb just wondering if we get called to transfer when would it probably happen?
When the new product is starting to be built at louisville how will they call back employees and will that effect anyone who goes to Chicago differently than those who choice not to go to chicago?
Heard something about volunteering to go ?
Just wondering what your guess is that they will call us back with low sen. to louisville for the new product.? I know the production wont be until around nov. 2011 but I heard there will probably be 1 shift before that. So do you think it will be before 2012 or in one of the quarters after. I know sells determine most of this so it is just a guess. Just need a date or time to look forward to.
Thanks again Herb for answering questions and being here to help us.

Herb thanks for clearing this crap up,I have s ome questions. 1. If I get called to go anywhere out of zone can I bump someone with less seniority at Ktp? 2. Does voluntarily be asked to go to chicago qualifiy bumping someone or does it have to be a case that would cause me to loose benefits? thanks

Rude dog,
I am not aware of any discounts for Cub, sorry.
There are less than 400 people laid off around the Ford system. Chicago does not have anyone laid off. The entire second shift was temporaries so when they eliminated the second shift, no UAW/Ford employees would be effected.

Hey herb just wondering if we get called to transfer when would it probably happen? We are hearing that if anything definately is going to happen, then Chicago will need people by april or May because they want the nightshift in place by June. When the new product is starting to be built at louisville how will they call back employees and will that effect anyone who goes to Chicago differently than those who choice not to go to chicago? Everyone will be notified ahead of time, either by phone or mail, besides our web page and this site. It will not matter where you are not unless you take the big moving allowance in which case you give up your right to call lap your home. Heard something about volunteering to go ? Chicago will have to post for volunteers first, then go to forcing laid-off workers around the country by low seniority. LIke you said this is a guess, I am guessing Final area will be called around Aug. or Sept, classifications will be brought in sooner. Body and Paint are to have tooling tryout builds around April or may. This is all tentative. Thanks again Herb for answering questions and being here to help us.

Does voluntarily be asked to go to chicago qualifiy bumping someone or does it have to be a case that would cause me to loose benefits? thanks 1) Yes, if you get forced to make a decision, to have to go out of Zone. Then you will have three options. Accept, Decline and loose pay and benefits, Decline and roll to KTP, if you have the seniority on someone currently working. Then the KTP person will have only two decisions above. 2) You have to be forced to choose, to bump Herb BC

Herb, Do the ILO employees have to go to Chicago or lose their job? No they do not. If you choose to say no to go to Chicago and can not roll anyone at KTP, then you will loose the rest of your SUB or TAP, plus the insurance you have left. You will have recall rights to LAP as long as the number of years you have seniority, or 18months, which ever is greater, so you are all good. Herb BC

I agree I love work and paychecks also....just not sure about the work enviroment up there. I have had the opportunity to go to Chicago and the people were great, just like LAP. The funny part was they have a 3 story escalator that takes you up and over railroad tracks and you have to take a tunnel over to the plant and walk down 3 stories of steps. I was like you got to be kidding me. Herb BC

ilomisrey, the work enviroment might be different. but hey thats fine! were lookin at year of work. i can deal We will try and coordinate who all is going to Chicago and I have a couple of contacts up there and will be willing to get ahold of them and try to hook everyone up with apartments or a house several people could share. It is only a 6 hour drive depending on the weather. I would suggest that you live in IN and drive over to Chicago. Herb BC

Herb, if we go do we get any money for expenses? You will be eligible for the $4800 allowance with keeping your recall rights to LAP. You will be eligible for the $30000, if you want to give up your rights to return to LAP. Herb BC

Herb, what are the options if we decide to go to chicago and want to come back to LAP when the retool is done? Im on ILO and want to come back but am willing to go to chicago for a while. Thanks I would hope that anyone that has not found a good job and is struggling to get by, take this job to Chicago and make some money for you family. When LAP is ready to retool and rehire, you will be surveyed to return home and be here for the second shift and home. Herb BC

Sorry for the questions Herb....but I am ILOMisery's other half. He is working and cannot ask the questions. If they can bump to KTP do they still have recall rights to LAP. Also, can he call you tomorrow at the union hall if I don't get all of the answers he needs?
