It is ridiculous. I work in the body shop so if the heat index is 110 it feels like 120 with the long pants and sleeves we have to ware. I think we should take our own heat breaks, sit down every hr on the hr for 10mins. Enough people do it, not a damn thing they can do about it, please send me home.

I think it has to be 139 outside before they give us heat breaks. I'm sure it's in our contract.

Sounds like many areas started getting heat breaks at 11pm...but not in body yet. Not in the dept. which wears sleeves...not to mention pants. If the frame line gets heat breaks, it should be a given that body gets them as well.

11PM??? What about B-Crew. We didnt get shit. The wet ball read 83.2. What a joke. It had to be every bit of 95+ in the plasma booth.

I think the only reason we got heat breaks tonight was because of the down time from chassis 2.

don't forget that the tire room was down as well. Its funny how it wasn't hot enough until we ran out of tires. We also had to payback the break(10 min.) on our last break. Go figure......

I agree Ktp399 this was only to benefit them this had nothing to do with us and the mess with break times changing was crazy ...........

that wetball test is complete horseshit. They came out to trim and tested it next to the floorloom heaters which run 135 degree's and the damn test showed 83.9. That also happened to be the same number that it read over on line 5. Its no coincidence that it was suddenly hot enough for heat breaks when the tire room broke down and the mezz nearly full but then not hot enough for our 2nd scheduled heatbreak (12:45am in SD trim) once the tires were running. Going to medical was the best part of the night besides getting off work.

U-Trim got a nice break yesterday, because of all the equipment failures! LOL The Stacker System is just limping along, it has had multiple failures over the last month. They will not spend any money on preventive maintenance, so they pay for it later, and react when there is a job loss breakdown.

Definitely don't be fooled by the term "HEAT BREAK". It was all about the tire room, and gave them the excuse to call the breaks they needed to try to get it fixed. The more break time they used up with the heat breaks the more units that got built later if they got it up and running good. They even increased the line time on CAL after the 11pm "heat break".
It was told around my area that heat breaks (when they give them) now counts against our regular breaks. When did that start, because it didn't happen in 1999?
I hope the union is not actually brazen enough to put out a memo about how they negotiated heat breaks for us last night. What an insult that would be, after we cooked for the first 5 1/2 hours with nothing, and then got then late after it had cooled down a little. Gatorade came early though, WOW!!!

Yeah, they got a nice break, and then had to work longer in the heat of the day. Lack of preventative maintenance has always been the problem because it is not in Ford's vocabulary.

Heat breaks do not count towards your 5 mins on the hour...you automatically get the 5 mins plus whatever additional mins for environmental break. For example, you may get 5 mins break + 10 mins environmental on the hour. So getting 15 mins on the hour makes for a great night. Working on the sealer deck at LAP, we followed this pattern for quite a while until they installed air conditioners.

Come on guys, you know we are one local...one strong local union. LMAO I have been duped by another rep...he told me he got me Thanksgiving week off (vacation) and when I had my TL check...my name was no where to be found. Typical. I turned in my vacation request form in April, but no one did their part. So when I rolled to 11-7, I had my rep check and see if I received my time off. He said I was not on the calendar but he would take care of it. He told me I had time on all but one person on that week so it would not be a problem. I was happy he took care of it, but he actually did nothing as usual...other than lied to my face. Oh well, paybacks a mutha come election time.

Welcome to hell boys and girls. Voting them out of office, what a joke. As long as this local runs the election we will have the same people back in office everytime. A union rep lying to someone here, come'on now they wouldn't do that would they.
Heat breaks, hell they give you fans isn't that enough. Why would the union rep fight for us when they can sit in the A/C all shift. Every notice how fresh they look (if they show up at all) when they do show up to see you.
Don't get me wrong I would rather be in a union shop than not but I can't help but wonder if we are even a union shop anymore. Why pay dues when you can't get any representation. Why have elections when people who do not even campaign get's over 1500 votes and/or get's the top spot. Is the elections rigged or is it just another way to make you think you have a voice here.
I see where people say the union rep's lie to them yet post no names. I respect the right to privicay and all but if they fail to do their jobs call them out so we all know who they are. I am sure most know who they are anyways but it dosen't matter they will be back in office.

Be mad at me if you wish about this post, but I am just giving you the truth.
First off I know you love LAP and hate KTP, I can't change that for you. But, I called one of their Bargainers to see if we were somehow shorting ourselves since you guys make it sound like they got heat relief way more than we do here. I am not above learning a better way if they got one.
According to him, LAP uses the same exact program in regaurds to heat relief we do, the UAW/corporate standard based on the OSHA charts. They use a wetbulb as do we. (so everyone knows, that reading is NOT the temperature its is a rating of ambient and pure humidified air.)
If anyone told you here or at LAP they negotiated you a heat break they are probably not being truthful, since that policy is already negotiated and has been for some time.
I then asked, how often did you guys get heat relief in the final area last year. Answer: "we haven't had heat relief in final on days in years and years. When we did get it, it was in areas with heaters" like the paint dept. Our paint department gets heat relief much more than the rest of the plant also.( that explains you renfro).
It's HOT, no answer I give is gonna make it less hot or make you like hearing we don't get heat relief today. We will continue to make sure they are doing the tests right and get you heat relief every chance we can. Unfortunately its gotta be unbareably F'n hot for that.
As to the kevlar sleeve leg warmers. I don't believe that is even true, if it is, it was a committeeperson trying to cut some deal. Please give me the name of that person so I can address it.
As to the break being taken to compensate for heat relief. I will start finding out what happened there.
PLEASE DO NOT TAKE CHANCES WITH YOUR HEALTH. If you feel sick please goto medical.

Hey Kessinger, Can you tell me why the forklifts don't have fans on them, but the assemblers get them. There's nothing like riding around on an oven in the hot aisle's.

The wet bulb is bullshit. It had to be every bit of 100 degrees in that plasma booth Wednesday on B Crew. When I got done and took my coveralls off my shirt and shorts were soaked in sweat. I probably drank a half gallon plus of fluids (water and gatorade) and barely had to piss. Now I want someone to tell me that this is not hot enough for a freakin heat break. It was just as hot on the rest of that line too. They either need to calibrate that wet bulb so it works right rather than in the company's favor or shove it where the sun doesn't shine.
