If it wasn't for all us legacy employees you New turds wouldn't even be working here. You knew what the pay scale was when you took the job. You applied to work here Ford didn't recruit you. I agree, we all should make the same amount of money but don't beat us down.

I'm a huge fan of sarcasm, love your name. Looking at the numbers is exactly right. When I hired in we worked 5-10s with some Saturdays sprinkled in. Due to tag relief, we built about 810 per shift. That's 8100 a week without even adding a Saturday. This plant could easily meet current escape demand with two shifts again. Please, don't misinterpret any of that as a scare tactic. I believe c crew is here to stay for a very long time. really i've never seen those numbers before so you must have been building 80/90 per hour For years and years and years we were told that it is cheaper to pay overtime to one employee than it is to pay two employees straight time so yes we did work 5-10's for years. The reason it is cheaper to pay one employee overtime rather than two at straight time is because of different cost and benefits that the company pays for each employee. The media says that we make $70 an hour (give or take) after you factor in the money paid for each employee for things such as unemployment insurance, workman comp, health/life insurance, retirement benefits, etc. If you subtract our wage (let's use $30 an hour to make the math easy!) from the $70 an hour total cost that means that it cost the company $40 an hour to work an employee plus their wage, whatever that wage may be. When they run a third shift they also have to pay another shift of supervisors. When you look at it this way it doesn't make sense/cents to operate three shifts so why do they do it. When the concept of a two tier wage system was introduced to us (I voted no) there were rumors that the underlying purpose of this was to eventually bring our wages down to the level of the second tier. We haven't had a raise for over ten years now so it looks like they are well on their way to achieving their goal. I believe they call this closing the gap. I predict that once the legacy wage has been stagnant long enough they could do away with the third shift and work us (not me, I'll be retired!) like they use to, 5-10's at a faster line speed and still get the same amount of production. After all, why pay the additional $40 an hour to an entire shift plus the expense of additional supervisors when you can just pay an additional $15 an hour overtime. Please don't misinterpret my theory either, this is not something I want just something to think about at contract time. I'm too old to work long hours anymore.
